Stilo GT

I've heard that fiat are bringing out a Stilo GT, its virtually the same as the Stilo Arbarth but with a manual gearbox.

It's in there price brochure but can't find it on there website.

Cheers

"Later this year the Stilo range is to be augmented by a 3-door-only GT version, which features Fiat Auto’s 170 bhp 2.4 litre 5-cylinder 20v engine mated to a manual (as opposed to Selespeed) gearbox. The GT will become available with a lower trim specification than the Selespeed-only Abarth, at a very competitive price."

Recently in Italy I heard these news:

Fiat Stilo restyling in 6/2004...

and in autumn 2004:

Fiat Stilo Abarth 2,0 litres Turbo 240 bhp

Fiat Stilo HGT 2,4 litres 190 bhp

and at the same time

Fiat Punto Abarth 1,6 litres Turbo 180 bhp

;)

What Car? depreciation graph:

_________________________Year 0 Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4
Fiat Stilo 1.6 16v Dynamic 3dr...£12,200 £6,953 £5,930 £5,048 £4,099
Fiat Stilo 2.4 20v GT 3dr............£14,295 £8,002 £6,888 £5,920 £5,151

That's 43% in the first year. I got an 18% discount at point of sale, so I am losing 25% in the first year alone [:0] (It's more or less another £1000 each year thereafter.)

I seriously hope that those stories of a 240bhp Stilo is correct....

PLEASE FIAT DO THE RIGHT THING AND BUILD IT!!

We should have a worldwide campaign outside all the Fiat HQ's in the World....

I think that the 240bhp version should be a FIAT GROUP effort...

Just think Ferrari ; Alfa Romeo ; Lancia and Fiat all working together to making a car...

It would just the finest car in the world!!

Have people seen the new Ferrari 612 Scagglietti?

How nice does that look....

The 240bhp Stilo chassis should be all Alluminium....
same as the engine...

OR MAYBE THEY SHOULD WHACK THE 550BHP 5.7LITRE FERRARI ENGINE FROM THE SCAGGLITTI IN AN ALL ALUMINIUM STILO???

LIMITED EDITION VERSION OF THE STILO?

LOL

or maybe i'm just crazy....

but its a bloody good idea i reckon...

what do you people think??

Metalic Jet Blue Fiat Stilo 3 door 1.9JTD with 17" Alloy wheels ; Beige Leather interior and ConnectNAV+....
hmmmm Gorgeous!

Fiat NEED to make this car to kick the likes of Honda, VW, Ford etc into oblivion and show the world that they are king of hot hatches.

Down with the Type-R! Down with the VR6! Down with the RS!
Long Live Abarth!

Why buy a GT? The price looks to be about £1400 less than the Abarth, but the spec is the same as a dynamic, bar the 2.4 engine and side skirts as standard.

By my calculation you would have to add the following to a GT to get the same spec as the Abarth:

£300 - Dual Zone Climate upgrade
£140 - Cruise Control
£1395 - Connect Nav+
£465 - comfort pack 1 (parking/rain/dusk sensors)
=====
£2300

In other words £900 more for a car of similar spec, but a manual gearbox!!

How is that competitively priced??

In Italy are available:

Abarth 3d 2,4 selespeed
Abarth 3d 2,4 manual gearbox
GT 3d 1,6 - 1,8 manual gearbox

NOT GT 2,4...

OOOhh, a 240 bhp Stilo. Better start saving ...

Any ideas whether this is a new engine or an existing one from the Fiat coupe or Alfa range?

Whilst on the subject of engines, were the engines in the Stilo a new design? With all the comments about the weight of the Stilo and its effect on the performance I'm trying to work out where all the weight it. Is it the engine block or floorpan? Considering Fiat spent a fortune on the modular floorpan design for use on other models it could end up being a problem across the entire Fiat range. So much for turbo.

With 240BHP under the bonnet they better start thinking about 4 wheel drive.

A 2 litre turbo engine could come from lots of places in GM. There's certainly a SAAB engine that could do the job (and it's a beaut to drive behind). The new Fiat diesel is I believe going to be put into the SAAB 9-3 It would be a good exchange with SAAB getting a good diesel and FIAT getting the benefits of years of SAAB experience with turbos.
