Two things

Hi there fella's. Now as it says i've got 2 things to let you know.

1) Saturday 20th we passed our MOT with flying colours

2) Saturday 20th locked the the car and tried to close the windows with the remote and my key key just died. Since then the remote on the key has not been working, so now I have to lock the car manually. Went to a fiat garage but service desk was closed. It seems my battery is fine but I am going to get a new one today and see what happens. Any thoughts I need your help. All I want is for everything to work again

Re: Two things

I actually have the same issue, but I have been using my second remote fob instead.

Apparently you can try getting the car to "relearn" the non-working key, as Deckchair details in the link below (second post in thread). I haven't tried this yet, but it may work for you.

Re: Two things

Does the warning light on the key fob illuminate when you press the button?

Re: Two things

Ok it's just sometimes the actual push button fails to make contact and can be renewed. Not so simple then, your car isn't happy with the signal put out by the fob. Sometimes it just magically works again after repeated efforts, more often you'll need to go to a Fiat garage and get them to tell the car that the key fob is a friendly

Right just spoke to some Garages(Platts in Stoke and BS Marsons) are just not willing to move on price and they were not nice at all except Fiat Brindley in Wolverhampton say if I have it done at the same time as the service they'll chuck it in for free as long as I buy the code card. and I can even do it under the fixed priced servicing

Re: Two things

Right just found out that if I have it done by the dealer they can't provide a warranty for the work so been thinking is it worth having an after market delivered and fitted for about £130?

what do you think this is what I'm going for and the fitters will get everything working if not full refund
http://www.in-car-stuff.com/shop/fal...rade-p-32.html the reason I'm looking at this is because it will do the same job as my factory fitted remote for a lot less and its supposed to be better

Re: Two things

You might well get a refund but are they going to fix all the faults on your Stilo once they've finished playing with all the wiring

Get it done properly (I'm sure Fiat should give you some warranty)

Re: Two things

Right had an auto electrician test my key yesterday for an infrared signal and he said my key was sending one but my car was just not accepting it. He also said because of that it would just be a matter of reprogramming the car to accept the key given that I had the code card.

They said they'd done some before but you might be right. But what I don't want is to spend time arguing with fiat once they've messed this up. Earlier when I got my car these are the same people who told me that a brava could not take 17" wheels instead of just telling me to get logger bolts.

Re: Two things

So yesterday spent quite some time perusing through the post for help and it seems that disconnecting the car battery has done the trick for most of the people whom have had the same problem. Because my key had already been tested and deemed working I thought why not got home around 1720 and took my ratchet set out and disconnected the battery.............waited.........the waited some more......watched dave............and then connected the battery back in again @ 1815
..............looked up and said a little prayer to the Almighty...........and pressed the lock button............and there.............it worked..............i was happy my baby was all working again and still is today (touch wood). thanks fella's you were a great help.

I am going to buy a key code card anyway just in case I ever need to use best to have everything

You know it still astonishes me that the battery trick sorts so many problems.... pleased to hear that you're all 'remoted' again

Battery disconnection..... the panacea of Stilo ownership
