Brake lights!!!

Hi Guys, new poster here and hoping for some help!

Last week al of my break lights packed up!

Reading through the forum, changing the break switch seemed a good idea, done that and still no lights!

Ive checked all the bulbs and they seem in tact and ok.

Any help in diagnosing this problem would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

re: Brake lights!!!

But never heard of break lights before, maybe they're not intended to work (as they'd be broken).

Is it worth changing the bulbs anyway?

I think the easiest solution is off to a garage with it

Re: Brake lights!!!

The fact that the hi level and lo level brake lights are both out would point towards supply or earth. I'd disconnect the connector at the brake light switch and check for power to the switch.
Got power? Ok you can dismiss fuses and supply.

Then i'd short out the two switch connector terminals so you bypass the switch. If it all works you know where your problem is. If they still don't work then you know the problem is downstream from the switch.

The hilevel cluster F40 power comes directly from the brake light switch I30 but it does go through the body computer pin 15 to pin 5 so if the hi level isn't working could be on the power supply side of things

But the whole lot is earthed at point C30 so a problem there would also knock everything out. Coo that's a bad design. Pointless having separate safety systems and then earthing them both at the same point
