16" alloy wheels??

I have just got 4 brand new alloy wheels on ebay and now need to buy 4 tyres and wonder if you lot have any recommendations. I have always had hankook and i wonder what you use and why.

Oh and it is 205/55/16 i need for these isnt it, but what speed rating and load do i need to buy as i might buy them online and get them fitted locally.
Thanks.

Wink Re: 16" alloy wheels??

205/55/16 V is what the books says you want - I have had W rated tyres as well.
Tyre choice is pretty personal and has been the subject of lengthy debates on this and other Stilo forums........
Comes down to choice.... right now you could have 4 Kumho Ecsta KU31 tyres for £179.99 delivered from one seller on eBay - or buy the same tyres from camskill for marginally less (£43/corner) both without postage charges - delivery included
What do you want from a tyre? Looks? Performance? Summer? All weather? Price? Low wear rate?

Re: 16" alloy wheels??

Yes i have looked at those tyres on ebay and thought they look a good buy but then add the fitting i may as well just buy from a local fitter.

I just like a good tyre that grips well wet and dry, wears well and is durable. As far as looks go, Black and round just covers it. I have had good wear from Hankook and would like to stay with them so do any of you run hankook tyres?

I know the speed ratings are V & W but what speeds do they mean please.

Wink Re: 16" alloy wheels??

V is up to 149 mph I think - so they'll be fine on most Stilos
W is the next level up.

If you like Hankook then stick with 'em IMHO

In that case I'd strongly recommend Pirelli P7's

Assuming your tracking is good to start with then you get no abnormal tyre wear at all (and believe me I don't slow on corners)

It's an asymmetric pattern (which I think explains the good wear) but pretty bland looking to be fair.

I can recommend any of the Vredestein tyres, had Sportrac 3's when I had my 15's. Now im on the Ultrac's on my claws! Very good tyre!

Re: 16" alloy wheels??

I have had Accelera Alpha's (W's) @ £40/corner on the Coupe Alloys - average for noise / good wear & dry grip / less inspiring in the wet thus replaced with 2.5 mm remaining & 22 K up when ASR lights constant flirting became annoying!

Now on Uniroyal 550's (W's) @ £58/corner - quiet / good economy / good dry grip / excellent wet grip... not wearing too well though, think they are gonna be all done with 18K on

Plus after 2 weeks of having them on I can report back that they are lovely and quite too!
