Re: Emulating the Passenger OCS sensor

Thank you very much. But i have more two questions.

1. I'm very sorry but I didn't understand (1/2watt) do you mean 0.5watt OR 1or2watt.
2. There is a slight difference between the colors of wires in the sheme and these in my car.

Re: Emulating the Passenger OCS sensor

1/2 ( half as in a fraction) = 0.5

Cant really help you any further with the wiring colour scheme of your car.

As I have previously said. It will not work.
The Stilo has a occupant classification sensor. i.e. it tells the weight of the person in the seat and where they are sitting.
The resistor works for replacing an occupant detector system. i.e. a simple switch that is triggered when someone sits in the seat.

I was merely interpreting the information given in German. Bodging diodes and resistors into something like this is stupid IMO - especially with limited or no knowledge of electronics or airbag systems.

Some things really are just best left to the experts.

Re: Emulating the Passenger OCS sensor

Surely trying to 'fool' the airbag system would be a bad idea.

I know that if it was tricked into thinking a person was in it, then it would still only go off if the seatbelt was used. But what would trying to emulate tell it? That there was an adult or a child? You wouldnt want it to think the wrong kind of passenger was in the car and the wrong deployment of the airbag to happen...

Get a new sensor peoples

You are right! But in Bulgaria from Fiat told me that it's around 200euro.

How do you think: will the airbag open when the OCS sensor doesn't work ?

Re: Emulating the Passenger OCS sensor

I honestly dont know, on most cars though if the airbag ecu detects a fault, then it will just disable the system. So no airbags.

Re: Emulating the Passenger OCS sensor

I dont know, depends if its able to just disable certain things or if it just disables the airbag system.

Still cheaper than here. 350 Euros for the mat. I use the simulator from airbag24.de. Simulates an adult in the seat. As I sometimes use a babyseat in the front, this wrecks the mat, so I don't plan to change the mat until the car is to be sold or the babyseat eliminiates as an option. The airbag is ofcourse shut off with the key...

Not on a stilo, they will still deploy.

Guys, as a responsible forum we have to take the manufactures stance on this;

***THIS POST GOES AGAINST FIAT'S RECOMMENDED METHOD OF REPAIR AND THEREFORE IS NOT REPRESENTIVE OF THE FORUM***

Wether you agree with this or not is entirely up to yourself, its your choice, your car but I hope if you sell the car on that you pass on the information of what you have done to the SRS system to the purchaser.

(If you know someone in the trade get them to get the OCS for you,£83)

What about passenger's airbag. Will it also deploy?

But yes if just foil matrix is faulty... Is there any possibility to emulate just the matrix, not circuit?
