Technical map sensor for fiat stilo

Thanks for this.

If we change the coil's ourselves, will the engine fault light cancel itself?

You seem to be quite expert at these Stilo cars; so, thanks again for the nuggets you've given me.:)

Thanks again for this.

Having had a further discussion with the fiat dealer I finally got the error codes off them:

P0300 - random cylinder failure
P0301 - Ignition coil failure
P0303 - Ignition, etc
P0304 - Ignition, etc.

They are still adamant that as well as new coils I need a full set of 4 new injector rails. I cannot belive this to be the case; surely? It really feels like they're taking the scatter-gun approach by simply replacing everything - and none of us are in a position to afford that approach. Is this common at dealerships?

I am well peed off. Still thanks for your helpful comments. Having looked at other discussions it seems that replacing coils has sorted these error messeages for a few people. So, I shall bow to your superior knowledge and get my own coil and have a go, as you suggest. :worship:

I can't believe this all started from P0105 map sensor problem, which has been checked by two garages and the map has been found to be OK. (again, is this usual?)

Is this really what the wonderful world of Fiat ownership is like!!!??????? You're all mad:eek: But MOST helpful. Cheers!

where about are you from??, ive just ordered 3 new champion coils for my car as two have failed in the space of 6 weeks ordered 1 first, then decided to replace all 4 as , so i will have 2 spare sagem ones which will maybe help rectify the problem,

i would seriously consider buying a fault code reader, it will save you loads in diagnostic checks...

they start from 25 quid!

software update (throttle body/map) often cures this but to get P0300 you must have a misfire which is unrelated.

So, tackling the coils first is a good step, right? (besides, by the looks of him/her I don't fancy arguing with the Argonought!)

Any ideas on the dealerships diagnosis of needing new injection rails?
They're saying I'm not getting the right mix of fuel and air so I need new injeciton rails. I thought there was some sensor that regulates the mix of fuel and air, and presume the rails just deliver that to the engine.
They have not said that there's anything wrong with them (breakage, corrosion), just that the computer and their own monitors show there's a problem with the mix. I don't understand!!!!!!

Help!!!! Life seemed so promising last month when I got my baby!!!!!

I'm darn sarf in Essex. However, have ordered my coils. Sorry ! But thanks for the offer.
And thanks for the suggestion on the fault code reader; I am surprised they start so cheap - it's heartening to read! :)

Just want to say thanks to you all for advice/suggestions.:)
We found that Coil no. 2 was loose (!) and was split - Yet again, I wonder what in the hell I paid two Garages for!!???????
Anyway - replaced the coil and ping! the light went off. My Stilo has done about 150 miles so far and it's running fine. YiPPPEEEE...... :D Also - again, as suggested by a forum member - we bought some grease lightening and have put that in the fuel tank and filled our Stilo right up full. She seems a lot happier at the moment.

Also, what did make me chuckle is that as soon as the engine light went off the airbag light went on. I chuckled (actually, I peed myself :ROFLMAO:) because, having now been initiated via this forum, I was not at all surprised and knew it was only a matter of time. Still thanks to all you lot chatting and problem solving we unplugged and replugged both connections under drivers seat and in the glove box and the airbag light as switched itself off again. I'm going to buy some contact cleaner - as suggested by a forum member - to finish the job properly.

All in all, I'm well pleased I found you guys and Thank you Thank you again for comments/advice/suggestions.(y) I originally thought you were all mad to be so patient with your Stilos :nutter:- but I gotta admit, when my Daisy is running fine, she's the nippiest car I've ever had - and I LOVE Her!!!!!

Hi guys just need a quick bit of advice. Only now and then say 2-3 times a month my fiat only when starting from cold starts up fine i pull away get to the bottom of my road and as soon as i step off the accelerator it stalls and when i start back up the revs are bouncing about it will do this for about a minute then runs fine and getting the engine warning light up. Finally took it into my local garage and mechanic said error coming up is map sensor but silly of me didn't check the forum out first and went out and got a second hand map sensor changed it ran ok for a day then next morning start up to go to work and its doing exact same thing so what do you guys think is up? should i do all of the things mentioned in this post ie clean throttle body, check spark plugs, the software update? and change the coils what do you guys think ?
