| More help/advice please - Stilo Abarth! "It could be a gearbox sensor with an intermittent fault or be on the way out. There are quite a few sensors in the Selespeed and the only way to truly know what caused the alarm would be to take it to a Specialist (or Fiat dealer if you're desperate! ). All you need is a garage which has the Fiat Examiner system so that they can hook up to the car and it can disclose it's woes. You could take the risk and see if it happens again before taking it to a garage to see if it was a one off... the only downside to that is that if it does fail again, it could leave you stranded. If that happens though, it's quite likely that it could clear itself after leaving the car off for 15mins..." Hi Yesterday Greggers suggested that the gearbox failure warning light which suddenly came on in my Stilo Abarth '03 could be due to a brake switch problem but having done what he suggested there was no further problems with this warning last night. This morning the light came on again just after starting the car up and went when I switched off the ignition and switched it back on again. Popped out at lunch time and all was well until I was literally reversing to park the car and the warning came back again. As Greggers suggested above the fault may be an intermittent gearbox sensor - if it is that are they expensive to replace? Anyone know of a Specialist rather than the main dealer in the Reading area? Many thanks for any help or ideas!

| has pooped his pants | Re: More help/advice please - Stilo Abarth! It really depends on what the problem with the gearbox is. Mines was an "odd engagement sensor" when my Selespeed went wrong. £35 sensor and a couple of hours later. Not a peep out of it since.... touch wood! ![]() As we've said, your only hope is to get your car hooked up to an Examiner, at least then you'll definitely know where you stand as the fault would have been logged. Should only cost you 1/2 to 1 hours labour depending on nice the garage is to find out.

| Re: More help/advice please - Stilo Abarth! Thank you guys, looks like i'll have to bite the bullet and take the car to the Fiat garage and keep fingers and toes crossed that it's something cheap that is causing this intermittent prob!
