Advice on Stilo

Hi guys,
new to the forum. I am currently a punto owner but have seen a stilo active sport on an 07 plate for £6000 with 19000 miles on the clock.
Does this sound a good buy and what should I check for?
This is in a local dealers forecourt.
Cheers for the advice guys.
Andy

Re: Advice on Stilo

Is it a 1.4 engined one

It seems a reasonable price for a 1 year old car (mine was 7k at 2 years old)

Have you had a good look around it

Re: Advice on Stilo

Yea it is 1.4 engine. I have had quick look at it and it looks fine on first inspection. Just need to get to the dealer and have a proper look and maybe a test drive.
With it having 19000 mileage for a 1 year old car just concerned me a bit

Re: Advice on Stilo

As long as it's got all the relevant stamps in it's service book, everything inside the car works (electric etc) and after a good look around doesn't look like it's been abused then I don't see the 19K should be a problem.

If you're a little nervous about it ask the garage if it's OK if you get the AA/RAC to inspect the car, if they start acting up then walk away.

Re: Advice on Stilo

also check for common problems on the stilo, see if its had the spring catchers recall done already? then check the front tyres for inner wear, a common problem with the naff suspension on the stilo. if its at 19k, ur next service is due soon(ish) 24k see if they'll through it in with the price? or always a good one, try and get an extra yeras warrenty for piece of mind?

Re: Advice on Stilo

If she has been looked after the Stilo is no less reliable than its competitors! Main things are the tyre wear and suspension work!

Re: Advice on Stilo

£6K goes a long way with Stilo's, are you particularly looking for a 1.4 as that money gets you into JTD territory?

Re: Advice on Stilo

the recent revisions to taxation have firmly put a nail in the abarth coffin for most drivers - hence why mine is for sale.

i personally would not touch a 1 year old stilo due to the sharp depreciation it is going to inevitably suffer as more and more bravos appear. go for a 3-4 year old one, this should have incurred most loss already. for the money, you should get quite a well equipped one?

perhaps this could get you towards the JTD - maybe ever the superior 150 model?

Re: Advice on Stilo

Good advice JTD has to be the way to go on that budget (not exactly a budget anyway )

I'm driving an 02 which has just achieved new levels of perfection.

zero faults - perfect tyres - no brake squeal - and a remap.

Fantastic Oh Yeah

Re: Advice on Stilo

I let my Schumi GP go due to expected massive depreciation. Great car, but tax and ever increasing fuel, insurance will kill these cars off. Better off now with a 100HP.
As for the new Bravo, is it selling that well. You really do not see many on the roads, maybe even less that the Stilo at the same time into its launch. I expect it will go the same way as all medium sized Fiats - very poor trade in value.

Re: Advice on Stilo

I was thinking I hadn't seen many new Bravo's about, but recently I have noticed a few more! Maybe its going to stealthily creep up and you will see loads!
As dibbers said go for a 3-4 year old Stilo, lots of car for your money!
