Interior door handle/card!

Ok, when i bought my stilo the passenger side door handle had been broken off and glued back on! Unsightly i know!

So i need to replace the door card, especially as today the handle fell off totally!

This is aparently £150 from fiat? seems a little steep.

I asked at a fiat specialist and they said its not an uncommon thing on the stilo, as the door handles are weak and not reinforced, just plastic.

Was just wondering if anyone has had this before?

Re: Interior door handle/card!

Well i finally got round to getting the new door card. £100 from the fiat dealer, comes complete with the handle too.

Really has improved the look of the interior, looks good again.

So my Stilo is looking pretty much like new now! After all he other things ive been doing to it, its looking good again.

Just need a new set of trims now, the original fiat wheel trims are looking a little worse for curbing!

I guess he's been looking for 3 months and got fed up waiting

He's got the new car feel back without actually buying one which has to be a clever move

Theres a few reasons for that:

a) Stilos are a rare comodity, there isnt that many in scrappies,
b) Even if you found one, the door card would more than likely be damaged as it is a very weak point of the interior,
c) And if you found one that wasnt broken, matching the interior trim fabrics is a problem.

I need two new door cards really, they havnt quite broken yet but it wont be long!!

Re: Interior door handle/card!

Yup, ive been looking since i got the car, ive been to loads of breakers yards, although as mentioned, stilos are not a common sight in scrap yards.

I did find a few though, one was the wrong colour, one was the right colour but had no front doors! and a few others had them but were either damaged in the accident or broken anyway.

I did find a few new ones in a Fiat specialists garage, but they were all for 3 door stilos.

So i had to buy new

Yes, the new door card even has the 'new car smell'!

The rest of the handles are pretyy good nick, and the interior is spotless otherwise, so it was really letting the car down.

Not to mention, when any passengers got in the passenger side and removed the door handle while closing the door It didnt look good

Re: Interior door handle/card!

Ah, yes I know what you all mean about Stilo's not being a common site. Try owning a mk2 Panda

Although if any of you live near Norwich then there is Hainford Hall (google it) which is a great scrappy (biggest in east anglia I think) and I've yet to got there and there not be a Stilo, but as also mentioned, whether they've got the same problem is another thing

Jon.

Re: Interior door handle/card!

I can vouch for Stilos being a rare commodity in the scrappies. Found one after looking for 4 months in various, including truly massive one's, all around the central belt in Scotland and a few in Fife. Needed an inner wheel arch liner, but the one I found was damaged too

Was a £50 part from Fiat as well and didn't feel like coughing up for that. Finally managed to get one off eBay for a tenner plus postage last week from an Abarth, well chuffed. Fitted it myself of course as well, Fiat were charging £20, so essentially saved around £50 overall

As for my doorcards, so far I've had no issues...yet. They don't feel very robust though, so I'm rather careful.

Re: Interior door handle/card!

I have one that anyone can have if they want to pick it up.
I bought it even though i knew it was the wrong colour thinking that i could 'doctor' it and just get the handle. But it was the wrong door card, for a later model i presume.
It is for the leather beige interior i think 3 dr, not the dark colours and not for the 2002 3dr model!
If you want it it is brand new, still in the packaging! Only cast £15 but if you pick it up you can have it for NOWT
