Ummm.. Possibly put the seatbelt on, potentially saving the NHS (and indirectly a portion of the taxes I pay) a humungous ammont of dosh when they have to sew your face back together after a dive thro' the windscreen.

This is a safety feature which wasn't included on early Stilo's (I think it is a MY04 feature). I've now got it on mine after having the cluster replaced and can't see why anyone would want to turn it off.

Like Pongo says, the obvious 'self preservation' argument is strong enough but having been caught out before and having to pay £30 to the Police party fund it has obvious cash saving properties too.

This is interesting- never mind him breaking the law (punishible with fine and points)

Mine doesnt beep. I drove mine accross a car park with no seat belt on (due to only moving car) and i got up 35mph and it didnt beep-just an angry red light.

Actaully being caught driving without your seatbelt on is not an endorseable offence so you only get a fine but it's still painful having to part with 30 quid...I know as I've been there!

You can avoid the beep if you move the car at a 'kerb crawling' pace...

The beeping isn't present on my 02 Stilo.

I once had to take it to my dealer (which involved travelling 10miles on a motorway at 60mph) with no seatbelt on as it had locked itself!

when I collected my new car from the dealership I got ready to drive off, but, the seatbelt was fitted twisted, I messed about for ages but couldn't get it to work. Luckily the spanner in service sorted it out quick - before I kicked up a right fuss.

I like the beep thing BTW. That kind of thing gives me a bit of reassurance - something you need with a FIAT now & again.:)

I think you'll find that Fiat have enabled it to get an extra star for euroncap. Most makers are at it at the moment, an audible seat belt warning is usually enough to get an extra star.

Quote from euroncap "Extra points awarded for the way that the C-class reminds its passengers to buckle their seat belts have now made it the second car ever to gain a five-star crash protection rating. Results for the C-class were published last year and it achieved four stars. But Euro NCAP has since changed its scoring system to encourage car makers to fit seat-belt warnings"
