Mudflaps

Hi,

I know this is technically in the wrong section but i thought my thread might get noticed here more.

Im wanting a set of mudflaps, preferably a full set of 4, but fronts are the most important at the moment.

They are to go on my 5door stilo.

Has anyone got a set they want rid of?

Thanks.

Re: Mudflaps

I'm not sure I'd recommend fronts but Fiat OEM rears look pretty smart on a 5 door (gives it that lower wider look )

Try eBay if you don't want to pay dealer prices.

Re: Mudflaps

I did check ebay a few days ago but i coudnt find any stilo ones.

Why would you not recommend the front ones?

Its mainly because ive got to go down a gravely farm track every day so i want to protect the sills as much as possible.

Plus, like you say, they do look nice on, the rears especially.

I just wasn't convinced they would improve the looks but if fitting to protect bodywork then it's a good move

Have you noticed how much damage the 5 door takes at the very rear of the sill as it curves out from the body. Mine is quite pitted if you look close.

Best to set-up an auto Search on eBay for "genuine stilo mudflaps". Still took months before I found a pair.

Re: Mudflaps

Hmm it seems that i might have a job to find a set then ...

I was thinking since they dont seem popular on here that people might have ones they have taken off.

Although ive got an old Brio brochure and they are listed at £15.91 a pair which isnt too bad. Although in the newer brochure it says £23.78.

I think ill ask at the dealer tomorrow and ill probably order atleast the front ones and then try and find some rear ones.

Ive been looking on the members cars threads and they really do look nice with the rears, although not many have front ones so im not too sure how they will look.

Ive not noticed any chipping on the rear sills, ill take a look later, as ive only had it a few days ive not washed it yet.

Thanks

I'll definitely agree with that! Mine's pitted in the exact same place on the sill (must be the quality plastics Fiat used ) and I'd like to get some mudflaps for mine at some point. It's amazing how quick and how dirty the side of the car gets without the front mudflaps...

Re: Mudflaps

i just have the backs on mine, cost about £16 from the dealer.

The 3 door also suffers from getting damaged rear quarters where it flares out, my passenger one looks awful.

The fronts, i have heard, involve a bit of drilling to fit them

Re: Mudflaps

Must admit my rear window still needs a lot of wiping even with the rear mudflaps (possibly a bit less).

At least the rear of the car looks better though

Pretty certain the fronts would give better protection from stone chips.

Re: Mudflaps

well seen as they were on when i got it i cant compare it to how it would be without them lol, all i know is mine is white and when it goes out in the rain the arse end gets mucky fast, soon followed by the sides, but i must admit i dont have any problems with stonechips on the sides, just front, lots on the front

Re: Mudflaps

Mine doesnt seem to have any stone chips on the rear of the sills at the moment, id like it to stay that way, hopefully the mudflaps will help that.

Its only low mileage (36K) so i think it was a town car previously, which might explain the lack of chippings.

When i get the car back from its service today im heading over to the fiat dealer to order a set of fronts, and rears depending on how much they will do them for.

I hope the fronts dont require drilling

It does get a lot of spray up the back, i was in heavy rain on the motorway the other day and had to have the rear wiper on continuously. I think thats more to do with aerodynamics rather than the lack of mudflaps.

Mudflaps, imo, enhance the look of most cars so im looking forward to getting them, i think my Stilo has missed out on a lot of TLC over its 5 years! But im slowly getting there with it.
