right now iv seen it, thats more than the other guys, alot more
looks like dead piston rings:bang:
could you hear how rough it was when i reved it too?!
thank god it's in warranty!
well, got a call from the garage today to say it was the EGR valve or "airbox sensor". Now i know these can contribute to excess smoking but, blue smoke? Not convinced. Still they can fix it and have it back if nothing changes, i might even get a 500 as courtesy car!
Anyway part is on back order till 14th of April so for the moment i'm driving a smokey Mjet which occasionally misfires!
Keep a lookout for me on the HS as i'm heading over to Wakefield this weekend!
By the way, has anyone else seen an original 500 at their local dealers?
Got to agree, your vid seems to suggest a REAL problem.well, got a call from the garage today to say it was the EGR valve or "airbox sensor". Both MAF and EGR are easy to isolate if they're suspect.
As you say, reassuring to know you've got a warranty
- MAF - disconnect it
- EGR - close it off
Yep, they're covered quite well if you search for them.I'm guessing instructions for doing these things are on this forum somewhere? May be tempted to try before i leave work tonight.

You can certainly disconnect the MAF sensor connector at any time but you'll need to set aside perhaps an hour, and have a good toolkit, to block off the EGR valve.
You can easily disconnect the electrical connector on the EGR valve but this wont help if the valve is mechanically jammed open.
He has an MJET 16 valve engine. Quite a different animal to the 8V JTD's most of us drive, and most posts on here relate to. EGR will be different for sure and the usual problem is them sticking open, which removing the connector wont cure.
That's a fair comment and I was going to mention it might be a bit different but thought they might be fairly similarHe has an MJET 16 valve engine. Quite a different animal to the 8V JTD's most of us drive, and most posts on here relate to.

Having listened to the sound of it, I'd say that's the least of your worriesi'm guessing this wont do any damage to the engine?
