General Squeeky Breaks

General Squeeky Breaks

I use Mintex with the OEM backing pads and they never squeek, at all, ever. :)

I just used a heat gun and a stanley knife blade to take them off the OEM pads and used high temp silcone to stick them on the Mintex pads.

Job's a good un, best of both worlds!

Has anyone got a solid solution to this yet tried 3 brands of pads (including original from fiat) 2 brands of discs and nothing not a bloody result copper greased the ass out of em fine for a few hours and back to whaling away.

The only other thing I can think of is to push the thing off a cliff and be done with it it's driving me mental.

HEELLLLPPPPPPP

Hi guys, I can only back up what already has been said, which is that a quality brake pad will go a long way if installed correctly (not much can go wrong but I read a few kinks here and there that can happen to cause premature failure or squeaking).
I had our Stilo 1.6's pads changed at last service about a thousand miles ago because they screeched horribly enough that it turned heads sometimes, they were not shot completely but +50% or more.
The composition of a brake pad depending on it's manufacturer and it's quality varies. Some contain more metals than others. Some wear longer but start to "sing" sooner or vice versa. I just had put in quality pads, not the most high classed but very good mid range ones, and presto, screech stopped, brake working perfectly since.
I'm told by my mechanic that certain pads with certain types of disks will emit sounds, usually not pleasant sounds, when breaking even when new :p It's down to their compositions.
I cant give a definitive answer to your problem sadly I can only back op what has been said before, good pads with disks in solid condition will go a long way and without annoying sounds :)

Mintex pads are squealers usually O.K for a few thousand miles but once they start you won’t stop them.

If you can get Allied Nippon pads they are silent, cheap, last and stop well.
