Flat Battery

Hey folks, after a wee bit of advice. My wife left the CD player on in my car on Friday and when i went to start it today there was no life in the battery.

I tried to start it by using my pals jumpleads but it was no good.

According to the owners manual i should now contact my local Fiat dealer for a new battery, (as my local dealer is Arnold Clark i am a little reluctant to say the least).

My pal was a hesitant to take the battery off to charge it because of the fuse boxes ontop of the battery.

What i need to know is it just a straight forward case of taking the battery out and charging it or should i get in contact with a garage for advice.

As you may have gathered by my post i'm not exactly mechanically minded

Re: Flat Battery

Cheers for confirming that, unfortunately charging it didn't work!!!

So I had to shell out £60 for a new battery on Tuesday morning then later that day when i was picking the kids up from school i went over a speed pump (not fast honest) and heard an almighty crack.

Took it to the garage and the front nearside spring had snapped and was now digging into the tyre...........left the garage £160 lighter (another tyre needed replacing as well).

If it wasn't for bad luck i'd have none at the moment

But not to worry it can only get better........................can't it

I expect the battery just died due to being a bit old and suffering a heavy drain. Hopefully you fitted a top quality high capacity job (very important on Stilo).

It's a pity you didn't use a good Fiat garage/dealer for the broken spring. Good chance this would have been a FREE job (aside from the tyre).

Mountains of threads on this subject

Re: Flat Battery

Dealer cant change springs unless authorised from Fiat, maybe the car has already had springs/patchy history/import etc..

Always change springs as a pair

Re: Flat Battery

Agreed .....but surely it would have been worth a try.

especially if it's not had the recall done yet
