Hi all- hope you can help.
The 'Bulb Failure' warning light is constantly comming on & off and is becomming very annoying. It's showing that my rear left indicator and fog light bulbs have gone, but they haven't. I'm certain that it's just a loose/dicky connection because the light doesn't stay on, but the problem is where willl the connection be and how do I fix it?
Any advice welcome,
thanks.

Hi mate,

If both of the bulbs are working, then it will most probably be an earth fault between the two. Remove the bulb holder and then remove all the bulbs. Cean up all the contacts on both the bottom of the bulbs and in the bulb holder itself with some fine sandpaper or similar. Also check the wiring multi connector that goes into to back of the light for any corrosion and remove as necessary. Put it all back together, and hopefully that should sort your problem.

Also, just to cover all the bases as it were, check that the bulbs for the indicator and the fog light match the specification in the owners manual.

Hope that helps,
Alan

I get the warning light often for fog lamp. I just slam the tailgate and it clears it! Even when I know the contacts are good and clean the warning light still comes on sometimes, but the tailgate slam does the trick. This method has worked for 4 years now. Must be a contact but dont know where.

You think you have it bad i have, Check stop light, Door open due to amp creating a magnetic field, Air bag warning because i took the steering wheel out and put my own in, possibly another but i cant remember. Just tap the menu utton it soon disapears.

Id advocate the cleaning of contacts etc. I had both my rear stop lights go so I cleaned everything up and changed the bulbs and everything is ok now *touch wood*

If you cant be bothered with all that try getting some new bulbs, there dirt cheap! (y)

I'm with 850kd here. A slam does the trick for me.

I have a similar problem; everything has to do with the boot. A failing boot light, brake lamp failure, boot open problem, etc., etc. Have not solved anything yet; will have to be patient..

Have you tried the steps above re: break light failure? Usually sorts it plus the bulbs are dirt cheap! The boot light failure there are also threads and posts on this and ways of fixing it! (y)

What I didnt say was that its only the warning light which shows failure, the light itself is always fine

Do you mean the light doesnt come on at all? Or does it come on in sidelight mode but then does not go brighter when you use the breaks?

I had both happen to me over a two week period to both sets of lamps and the above seemed to work, cleaning the contacts and then a new set of bulbs!

Hi There

I have the very same problem of the bulb failure warning constantly coming on and off when braking, it says for light out brake light out and indicator although when checked none of this is the case. I have tried all the remedies suggested her but nothing works. On my old stilo (02 plate) i could switch the bleep off but now on my abarth 54 plate that cannot be done anymore, it is now driving me to distraction has anyone got any ideas??

Fog light, brake light and indicator bulb failure circuit warning all happening together means poor earth at the light cluster unit. Check voltage between the the earth connection, black wire, on the rear light cluster and a good earth on the body with fog light on, near 0v is good, if not then find and clean up the earth connection to bodywork there. Then you simply have to get that good earth connected properly to the light cluster, so inspect and clean the connection pins there
