evening all NEW here! in need of some help! just bought a damaged fiat stilo and boy what a big mistake .....replaced front bumper both radiators and fan, drivers head light and air bags car starts and drive apart from no power steering and warning lights.......engine management light.....airbag failure warning.....abs light and failure warning......ebd warning.....also comes up with loose connection!:bang: if anyone has any solutions? would be very greatfull.

Did the airbags deploy when the vehicle was initially crashed?

The EBD is linked to the ABS function. I would start by getting the airbag module reset. This may even fix the EBD issue. I may have dreamed it, but I'm sure I read a post somewhere about the airbag and ABS module being linked.

As for the power steering, that may be something to do with a loose connection. As you probably know, the Stilo's powere steering is electrical and does not run off a hydraulic unit.

The engine management light is merely indicating that it is reporting an error which could be any of the above.

It would be sensible to get things reset, then follow a process of elimination. After the resets, if you get any more lights, then a diagnostic would be advisable, so you know where to start looking.

I must admit, I haven't had much experience with the Stilo, but with my previous needle in a haystack fault find on a Bravo HGT, I know you can run into alot of red herrings.

Get it all reset then see where you go from there. Naturally a phisical inspection of connectors in the problem areas would be advisable before hand.

Now you are really picking my small brain!! Unfortunately, it's not just a case of resetting it yourself. FIAT will have to replace the module completely at a cost of a small village no doubt. Alternatively, you can have it reset by some 3rd parties. Here's one:

As for where it is located on the vehicle, I have no idea but I'm sure if you tell them you intend to use their services, they will be able to talk you through removing it.

will let u know my progress may take a week or so as have to send module off for resetting but fingers crossed. thanx again LoBsTeR

sorry i know its a bit off topic but where you the person who bought that yellow 1.6 with the abarth kit that we were watching? if so DONT read that thread! lol. also would be a good idea to buy diag kit, basic one would do for your needs that will save you a lot of money and maybe help narrow faults, also allow you to reset codes, also check the battery, such an array of faults has been put down to a worn battery before. hope it all works out for you (y)

if you dont need it by the end of this week then ebay is your best bet, a simple dongle will cost about £20 quid which is very cost effective (priceless in my car) that will read codes, able to reset them, come with booklet with all generic codes but wont have a few pins like pin 3:airbag ECU, the more expensive the system the more abilities it will have and manafacturer codes provided. if you need one in a rush then any motor factors like halfords sell them, cant remember prices off hand thought, haynes also produce entire manuals on them tho this isnt necessary, theyre pretty simple to use. but one big thing to remember, just because the fault code says something is wrong or broke, dont just go replacing it!! to be honest if you come back and post your fault codes im sure that a few of us can provide you with some answers and soloutions. also ive also seen a few airbag modules been sold this last while in ebay so theres another option!

il search ebay. are the ones from hong kong ok? or shall i try and find some1 selling 1 closer to home?....will keep u all posted if i get it fix or sell it as it is! thanx again

The problem with buying stuff from Honk Kong or anywhere outside the EU is that you run the risk of having to pay import duty. You can get away with it most of the time and on low value items, it wont cost a kings ransom. If you can source from within the UK, it would be better. You would get a faster delivery time as well.

also forgot to mention i took out the air bag module! took a couple of hours, spoke to a very helpfull chap called scott at airbagreset.com who pointed out that i had to rip out part of the dash to get to it which was simple enough. he also mentioned that before i reset the module i had to check that a sensor somewhere near the front bumper was ok and working! COUGH COUGH mines missing:cry: now i have to find a blue print of the airbag system and see what im missing! no point me playing any lottery!!!
