Hi all,

Just had my new car 2 days but am having problem with central locking.

Front doors won't operate with remote, rears operate with remote and with key in drivers door.(passenger rear lock stem goes up and down but door reamins locked/stuck)

Am waitng for owners handbook to arrive in post, anybody experienced similar problems?
Am not sure which options I should select in MY Car preferences.

I think there must be something wrong but would rather ask before I book it into garage.

Mick

Sounds like its fooked, My Car lets you setup the car so all doors bar drivers remain locked when using the remote, not both front staying locked while rest unlock! B)

Could be similar to the fault i had, where one of the door latches was fecked and it meant that door wouldn't open even when it was unlocked!

53 plate, Stilo 3-door, Sassy grey, Alloys to follow, 1.2 Active, 5-Disc CD-Changer -- 45mpg!

Sounds like it.
Any how took car to local dealer who reckons stuck lock on rear door is confusing locking system. Sure locking was erratic before this.
Car is now booked in for repair Friday so hopefully all will be sorted, they are also looking at fixing wind noise from drivers door.
So far dealer has been very helpful esp since car was from Motorpoint will see what kind of job they make on repairs.

Yes, definitely a fault, take it back to the dealer and let them sort it!

central locking problem

any one out there no why my central locking has stopped working threw my key fob since i have taken out my head unit on my stilo abarth

Re: central locking problem

i wouldnt have thought that could have affected it

if it has, you are maybe likely to have knocked a fuse out, or pulled some wires.

im not sure how the central locking in the stilo works to be honest

either that or the battery in your key has run low (n)

Re: central locking problem

thanks for that but the central locking still works with the key in the door lock and with the button which is on the door handle inside but just dont work with my remote button on the key and ive changed the battery to and still dont work very puzzled about this

Re: central locking problem

has the sensor for the remote possibly been pulled out/or broken

im not sure where abouts on the car it is situated, im guessing probably at the front of the dashboard somewhere ;).

which means that it could be linked to the same wires, or share the same route/space a bit as the cd player headunit

Re: central locking problem

yeh that sounds like what it could be i will have to see where abouts it is so if any one no's could they let me no thanks for that mate

Re: central locking problem

The wiring on the Stilo is very complicated - you might have disturbed something by taking it out - try fuses first - does it work if you plug the head unit back in?

Re: central locking problem

hi mate no i tryed to place old head unit in and it still dont work the only other thing i havnt mentioned is the car battery is knackered and ive had to keep charging it till i get my new one which will be next week could this have wiped my code from the key fobs

Re: central locking problem

do's anyone no what i can do next as im running out of ideas

Re: central locking problem

Only real solution is to take your car and all fobs to a Fiat daler who will reprogram your car to accept your key fob frequency

Low battery voltage plays hell with any electrics (just don't do that) and there's can network involved in the head unit so who knows what may have caused your car to lose it's hand shaking with your key fob. If you've got a new battery in the key fob and it's led is lighting when you press the buttons then it's dealer time to resynch it in using Examiner

Re: central locking problem

ive spoke to fiat this mornin and its because ive taken head unit out so looks like ive got to put a new central locking kit fitted

Re: central locking problem

hi just to let everyone no my central locking is working fine now i disconected my car battery and reconected it and it work fine now amazing a as fiat told me it wouldnt work without the head unit shows how much they no thanks to all with the help

Re: central locking problem

I also have a prob with central locking. I cannot open my 2 rear doors. Key fob pops buttons up but doors completely deadlocked. I have just had a new multifunction relay unit fitted at great expense, auto electrician told me that key needs to be re-programmed as c locking now not working at all. Only driver and front passenger door opens with key in lock. Any ideas appreciated....MAL

Re: central locking problem

Sound like nonsense to me

If the key opens both front doors and starts the engine then it is accepted by the car's security system.

What's the full story - did the rear doors open before ?

Sounds like something hasn't been wired correctly (or put back correctly) :chin:

Hi Guys

Having a major prob opening rear passenger doors:confused:. To cut a long story short I had an electrical problem draining my battery, Fiat Stilo JTD Active on a 53 plate. They replaced the multifunction relay unit (suspected of being the fault) with a reconditioned one from my local Fiat Dealer which was programmed to my Chassi Number (allegedly), Benfield Fiat Newcastle. However, a few days before that, I picked my car up from a friends using my spare key. Am I right in assuming that as I usually use the deadlocking feature in my 53 Stilo from the fob, that the manual key does not release the locks? as since I have not been able to unlock the rear doors at all. Prior to doing it manually they were working fine. I thought it may have been the faulty unit. However since having the faulty part replaced, the locks will still not release. I have noticed however that previous to fitting this new part, my car would lock automatically after leaving it standing unlocked after a few minutes, this now doesn't work. Could it be that they have fitted a new part that doesn't support deadlocking. I am at my wits end and as this new part cost £460 (for tracing the fault and buying new part) and don't look fwd to my local Fiat dealer charging me an arm an leg to sort the problem.
Any ideas greatly apppreciated.....MAL
