General STILO 1600 TOP SPEED... is it realistic???

i dont see why not, obviously there is a % error in the speedo reading, but other than that its possible.

iv had a 1.6 (103bhp) mk5 golf at 210
a 1.6 mitsubishi lancer at 210
a 1.3 yaris mk2 at 200!
a 1.3 2005 toyota corolla at 190

as long as the car is light, it'll do it.

iv had my jtd at 130 (PNL was there lol on the way back from autoitalia brooklands via my very own private test track ;) )

my 1.6 ive blasted very quickly to 120 on my speedo, but my road angel was say only 111. lost my bottle after that (old bill wise) so i can see this being possible on the 1.6. The stilo never feels like its going that fast even at that speed, as already pointed out it was rock solid.

Take a trip to Germany, give it a blast on an autobahn. Even at 120 (speedo reading) you'll get a BMW or Merc wanting to get past.

I decided to lift off at 120mph. I had visions of a tyre blowing out and then I saw the 'Grim Reaper' smiling. Still had plently left in the oil burner ;)

I have been putting off a remap for ages coz of a baby on the way, but I think I might reduce the little buggers inheritence to the tone of about £300 and get it done.

I have started to convince the missus that it will greatly reduce my fuel bill. She is actually buying my story!!!

Cant wait :)

my remap comes shortly hopefully (y)

get my 10% bonus soon (of my annual wage), so should have enough for that, my 36k service, and the rest into savings :D

ive seen an indicated 130 on the speedo, for a few seconds but backed of as it felt to fast even though the stilo was stable at it i didnt want to oush it to hard :p:eek:

NO i believe it ive done it just takes some time to build up the speed you need a nice long straightaway. ive done it many times the 1.6 in my opinion has a great top speed. i remember in the summer i was racing a 106 rallye (the 8 valve one) which seemed tuned up with a full exhaust system and with my aircon full on i kicked his ass on top speed (not much prob about 20-30 klm more) but just enough to make him look like a sucka :p

heres a photo from my phone but ive done a tad more than the piic i have here.

i am gonna go away for the weekend if you guys want i can take a video of me maxing out the car on the highway :p in case there are non believers out there :p

Its entirely possible ive had about 130 on the dial dont know on the sat nav didnt have it with me. Thais the thing about fiat you do get some good engines like my 1.6 listed 103bhp ran at 118bhp standard and 123bhp with just the induction kit on it. So one can only imagine what it will run after a remap i cant wait too see i have tried it once but problems with the car meant that i took it off and had to spend the money sorting it out, I did get a stainless twin exit exhast so that should let the car breath more aswell.

Sure the Stilo can probably hit those top speed's and juding by the pictures it can, but do you really want to be constantly hitting those kind of speeds!?!?!

Wreck your engine in a day!

I think for most people it might be more a case of:

Lose your license in a day! :bang:

It's quite funny to read this, just a couple of days after I got a SPEEDING TICKET in my Punto Sporting (1.2 with CVT) - I had my foot all the way down JUST THE ONCE on a four-lane road at 9:15PM and within SECONDS of reaching 136km/h (with a friend following) I had a mobile disco behind me - and a $400 fine (150 pounds) - friend behind got off scot-free.

What a stupid thing I did, all for the sake of about 85mph for a few moments. If I had been going just five km/h faster, I would have lost my license for 28 days and had my car confiscated.

Please, think before you speed (especially in NZ) these holidays... (y)
(not you Argonought, just people in general!)
