Ok first off, I hope this is the right place...

I've got a Stilo Abarth 2.4 2002 and only had it for about a month. When I collected it I drove a couple of minutes away and sat playing with the Sat Nav. I then found I had a flat battery, not a good start! Anyway, I gave the guy a call who I had just bought it off and we bump started it. He said he hadn't used the car for a few weeks and combined with me sitting their playing with the Sat Nav etc that was probably the cause.

Since then it's been fine, except today it won't start again due to a flat battery.

Anyone any advice? Do you think the battery needs replacing or there's something else going on?

Cheers :worship:

Hello and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!
Before you get a new battery, do a few checks to rule out anything else. With the engine running, put a multimeter on both of the battery terminals. You should get around 13.8v or more. This will tell you that your alternator is not the problem, and is supplying charge to the battery. Then, turn everything off, and disconnect the positive lead from the battery. Attach your multimeter between the battery lead and the battery terminal (SET TO AMPS) and look to see if you have a high amount of amps being drawn. If so, then you have something drawing current when it shouldn't be. If both of those are ok, then new battery it is! (which to be honest is the most likely problem)

Hope that helps,
Alan

I would deffo think about a new battery. Also, consider buying the most powerful one you can afford. I had similar probs to you (multiple flats), bought a direct replacement battery and no improvement. So upgraded to a 75 Amp/hour battery (twice the size of the standard one, but still fits nicely in the battery box) and never had a problem since.
