Just back from greece, day in my car and gears get very hard and also then noticed gearbox oil was leaking.

Got phonecall today from people who have my car now. Took gearbox out to have look and to fix it would be stupid so recon gearbox time also while they at it said that clutch isnt far from going out (which I could tell before so not making any crap up) and the thing pad that helps pick a gear when put clutch in needs doing. They doing that within the £180 + VAT labour charge thou

So got 180, 80, 75 all plus VAT then the price of the recon gearbox x_X so like 800 + quid or so. Dam it Lucky just have money in bank for it. Thou still need to give uncle 700 quid for the holiday -.- heh sods law strikes again. So gonna be poor now, just as some Claws apper on ebay! ARGGG >__<

Mate i feel for ya, check with fiat about your gearbox, when mine exploded earlier in the year they offered me a recon box at a very reasonable price, it was only the 245 surcharge which killed the deal for me (my outer casing was gone so i would have lost the surcharge), if memory serves it was around £550 for the box on the 1.6 (i think its the same box but not 100% sure). £800 seems excessively high for a recon box imo, have you also thought about breakers?, if you go this route just make sure its the correct box, the amount of breakers that dont know the difference between the boxes is astounding. I had 2 6 speeders delivered before i went for the home rebuild option. The boxes arnt interchangeable without major surgery to the car (diff flywheel, starter and god knows what else).
Clutch, i payed £80 from europarts, im assuming its the same as mine (other than being an 1.8).

Picked it up sunday morning. Gears at last feel nice and smooth, later in the day had some crappy chav in a saxo and it floored it better then normal in 1st shoot up in revs well since no car for over a week maybe just me =p

Clutch got done too, since would save money in long run they did it within the labour charge of taking out/putting in new gearbox. And feels nice can feel the biting point so easy now.

Good turn of a fate really as I only just got 1.3k in the bank (what this all ending up costing me, stupid rare gearbox's <.<) k plus weekly royal mail wages its not much and with bills like car insure/mobile bill and so on I wouldn't able to pay for them claws, just got to hurry up earn some good money so when pay this car work off :/ start getting reasonable amount in bank again then the claw hunt is back on

I do however have to get my front brake pads sorted the inner is like gone -.- havn't felt good since got car few months ago. But thats not too much of a biggie.

Hope my baby has gone though all the major repairs <.< well 2am o.o off to bed
