Question airbag failure

went to find out the fault that was causing my "airbag failure" problem. took the tray from under the drivers seat and did everything the guide showed with metal contact cleaner, joined that back but still the same problem, so decided to have a look at the passenger seat and was slightly shocked at what i found

first of all i was under the impression that there was to be 3 pairs of connector blocks, a white one (no idea wat its for, but its not there) a grey one for the occupant claffification sensor and the organge one for the airbags, the problem is that there is no orange one, i think someone has ripped the wires out off the connector blocks and soldered them together which im sure isnt safe and may be causing my problem

also there is only one half of the grey connector block, the male end, anyone have any idea were the female should be? lol.

Re: airbag failure

So it was like this when you bought it, yes?
The grey connector goes to the OCS in the passenger seat and the white one goes to the seat belt connected yes/no switch

The female grey connector should be comng down from the OCS in the seat but i wouldn't be surprised if the OCS wasn't there at all from what you say

Sounds like someone's done some pretty stupid ripping out of essential equipment.

Re: airbag failure

i dont wana get a dealer involved as its too much money for my liking
yea it was like this when i bought it, the grey connector block is on its own, the male end
there are 10 wires soldered together to make five pairs, if all the connections were correct would the solder work?
to be honest i just want this airbag failure warning to disapear, i went to compare the wires soldered to see if the connections were correctly paired and im pretty sure they are
im sorry if this comes across as a stupid question but what is the OCS?

now from what i can see from the driver side there are 3 wires in each block for the airbag connector blocks and two wires in each block for the seatbelt one, essentially these wires are all still there and connected, js cruedly. if all these block are connector blocks then essentially would the solder connections work?

£70-80...less than a decent CD player.

OCS = occupancy seat mat, detects if someone in passenger seat thus wether to/or not deploy passenger airbag in a crash.

Re: airbag failure

ok, just asking but if all the wires all correctly paired and the connection works then essentially the airbag and seatbelt should be working fine?

and what am i looking for exactly when i am looking for the OCS to see if it is there?

Question Re: airbag failure

rite well i took the passenger seat apart and had a look for the OCS, i took the cover off the seat so i could see the yellow foam cushion and the white underside of the cover but no OCS unless it is contined within the cover for the seat?
so assuming that my OCS has somehow vanished, would that be the reason for the increasingly annoying beep beep beep "airbag failure"??

Re: airbag failure

Look in the Stilo Guides and you'll find useful photos and a description of how to replace the OCS,

Here's one to be going on with

Sounds like someone was trying to turn the airbag failure warning off without having a clue what they were doing. Hope they haven't touched much else

Re: airbag failure

i got myself an OCS, took it from the a seat i got from a salvage yard and connected it into the female connector block, but still the airbag failure light comes on =[
is there any way of finding out where the trouble lies, ive followed the guide, got an OCS and have not had any luck
also, i only noticed this today, the key switch for the passenger airbag on the passenger side of the dash, if this was turned off then would that make a difference or does it still do all the same checks
also i was told (not sure if its true but may as well ask) that even if it was the missing OCS and i reconnected it, that i would still have to go to the dealer for them to put the light off even thought the system is ok
your help is very much appreciated as ive its first MOT on thur =S
