Overboost valve name?

Hi!

I have read all threads related to overboost valve problem, and I'm sure I'm one of lucky guys with Stilo that suffering from poor overboost valve design.

I'm going to move it up to battery try, and I want change it by myself.

Questions:

1. what is technical name of overboost valve - wherever I try to find no part with that name.

2. should I just replace it by myself (we have just one dealer, extremely expensive and with no much knowledge)?

Thanks in advance

Re: Overboost valve name?

It's well worth taking some effort to find some really good tubing to accomplish the move. I checked with my dealer to see if a 'transfer' pack might be available but it would seem it isn't so you'll just have to buy the tubing yourself.

I say this because many converted JTDs, after a year or so, can experience overboost faults due to the new tubing starting to split

But have you checked if these are post or pre-move parts ?

If these are original tubing then they wont be much use unless they're quite long and you have to cut them to size. In that case they might be just the job

on eper they dont have an 'after' listing.

will looke again to be sure. i thought you would have to just cut to size.

they are definetley longer as opposed to shorter.

edit: my bad, i have found this 55203202 - ELECTRO-VALVE replacement for 55188059 doesnt give a reason for the change though. change date 04/2006

also 13000190 for a collar that is needed to connect the pipes to the valve but the pipes have the correct codes as above.

Re: Overboost valve name?

Hey guys,

I’m totally confused.
T1406 told that it is overboost valve. On ePER part no 55188059 is electro valve, on some Czech site I found beside that part number that it is EGR valve. I think EGR valve is something different than overboost valve?

Anybody know how to ask for part in shop?

From other threads, I didn’t understand if just putting it on battery box is enough even if part caused fault, or it is necessary to replace it and move it to the top?

Re: Overboost valve name?

Move it and give it a good clean at the same time. Only replace it as a last resort (normally suffers from getting wet!).

You should be able to see what it looks like from various images posted on the Forum. As you say, it's certainly NOT an EGR valve and is actually really quite small. Well, I'm sure you can look for yourself

Re: Overboost valve name?

EGR and Over Boost are two different sensors. the overboost valve is behind the bottom of the front bumper and the egr valve is on the top left hand back of the engine. ive put 1 overboost valve on mine as it was full of water.

Re: Overboost valve name?

Agreed. after coming off the tools at a fiat dealer i am now dealing with Parts and Service, and Eper can be a total nightmare on times.
