Hi all, This is the first time posting. i have just got a Stilo Abarth 2002 (yellow)

I saw on this forum that you could update the Connect Nav+, my system was running version 8. something and when i got it the phone was not working and would not except the sim card. the satnav was working fine.

I followed all the instructions for the upgrade and all went fine and the system is now version 9.8.

The problem i have now is that when i go to NAV there is no map displayed, only the red arrow. (yes the map disk is in the cd) Before the update the icon for the satnav was green, now it is just grey and if i go to info it is showing 0 satellites.

I have tried the update again still no joy, i reburnt the cd at a slower speed and tried again, but still not working.

Everything else works fine except the satnav and phone. If anyone here could suggest a fix, or if there is a way of restoring my old version please help. many thanks. adrian

Maybe just a coincidence. Check antenna, is the plate in left upper corner green (or yellow?) or not. Try to push MAP. I had a lot of problems with 9.8, CD quality and upgrading, and I cud say that is not a software problem. There is no version without navigation.

Thanks for your reply. I hope you don't mind but i have a couple of questions.

1, You said to check the antenna, Is this the same arial as the radio ie the one on the back of the roof, or is the gps one somewhere else?

2, You asked what colour the plate is (green or yellow or not). When you say plate do you mean the pictures of the satdish and Phone. if so they are both blank (no colour).

3, You said you had trouble with the 9.8 update cd quality etc, what or how did you get around this.

I know i've asked a lot of questions but i would appreciate any help to get my new car working again.

It's the same.

Sorry about my English, it's satdish picture. It need to be colored when signal is good. If all are blank, this means you don't have signal from antenna. Check cable from CN+ to antenna (Pull out CN), as I know, there is also some connector between CN and antenna, not sure where.

Bad CD with 9.8 was stacked in unit and memory was empty. (n) Total blackout. :bang: After that some specialist put me old version (5.xx) in eprom and repaired CD drive. This was pain in ass version, slow and full of bugs. Lady was even angry :mad: if you miss some voice command! Finally I found good version of 9.8 and put it in. Now it's something else! :worship:


I know i've asked a lot of questions but i would appreciate any help to get my new car working again.

Final (clever) question: Are you maybe somewhere in deep garage 5 levels down in iron box? :eek: You need open air for satnav! :D
 
Something strange ..... :hm: :hm:

I just changed my mobile phone SIM card, new operator. Put a card in and typed new pin. Phone works, but ... navigation don't! No signal in the place where signal i s good for sure. :shakehead
Next turning on with new card and pin, everything good. :hug: :hug:

Try to reenter your SIM for mobile, pull it out, than turn on, put in and turn on, put pin and turn off, then turn it on with everything new, maybe it will work ?!
Stupid, but easy to try!:stupid:
 
Hi all,

I went to a fiat dealer today to see if they could sort out the satnav/phone.
all they did was stick it on a computer and that told them it had two errors.

Internal Error Intermittent

All they said was that i would have to buy a whole new unit for £1952.06 and then charged me £43.48 for the pleasure :rolleyes:

When I go into the set up menu and do the connect four times thing, it shows that all the arials are ok. and when i go through the menus it is not showing anything for GPS HW Version or anything else to do with the GPS. with the GSM menus it comes up with some very stange symbols.

Does anyone know if i unplug the unit, will i need a pin number or code when i plug it back in. reason i ask is because i don't think i have one.

If anyone has a copy of an older version than 9.8 i.e 8.5 so i see if that helps restore it please let me know. thanks

Hi, Just a quick update and a plea for help.

I still have no Satnav or Phone on the connect Nav+ . I have reflashed and reflashed but still nothing. I have taken the system out and unplugged for about an hour in hope that it would sort of reset, but still no joy. If anyone could shed some light on a fix, or where i might be able to get it fixed.

I would like to try to flash it backwards to an older version to see if this sorts it out but i don't know if i have the disc for that. The disks i have are the original setup disc ( which i believe is for changing the language etc, but does not have the software i need) and the nav data disc. If anyone out there has a copy of an older verison or know's where i can download it, please get in touch with me. Many thanks
 
Right, going back to basics . . .

The arrow in "a plain field" is because the unit has no idea where it is, and since you flashed it, has lost it's last location point (you can have no aerial connected, but if it hasn't been flashed, it'll write to its memory where it last was). It is recognising the fact you've got a map CD in, otherwise it would say so.

So, no sat nav and no phone - sounds like antenna to me. Have you gone into the service menu (see the Connect Nav+ sticky) and checked it?
 
Hi Rich, thanks for replying,

I have indeed got the nav disc in so thatrules out that one , i have been into the service menu and it reports that the antennas are ok.I have removed the unit from the dash just now and on the back there this a grey connector and a green one which i belive are the ariels for gps and gsm. i have checked with a volt meter and i have 5v one the grey one, but nothing on the green. I'm currently stripping the unit apart to see if i can find anything more :eek:
