Cambelt/Cylinder Head

Hi Everyone,

As some of you know my cambelt snapped on my 2.4 back in May, I have been waiting for 5 weeks for a new complete head which turns up last thrusday and to my horror i have been told its the wrong one as mine has been modified from the original spec and i will be waiting another 2/3 weeks for the correct one.

So far i have spent around £600 on hire car and i'm not getting anywhere.

I have found a another head from a 2.4 (2002) my questions are

1) Shall i give it up as a lost cause?
2) Spend the money on the second head hoping it will fit?
3) Burn the damn car

Thanks

Cool Re: Cambelt/Cylinder Head

Aww don't say that many owners have no trouble with their cars at all..well not much and TBO I do notice that more abarths on here are got rid of than the other models I think they are more finicky to look after and need constant looking after and if you modify the abarth you can expect even more so it would seem ..owning one does seem to be a bit of a money pit IMO..anyway try these for the bad taste

Re: Cambelt/Cylinder Head

I would look for another engine full stop. one of my pistons collapsed, and knackered up everything. I bought a complete engine for £600, and had it fitted for £800. And since then ive had to replace one engine mount, but apart from that, its been great since.
Search the stilo forum and my experiences are there!

Type this in search box " New 2.4 engine game ".

But i'll check in my shed to see if ive got my old cylinder head, apart from needing 4 new valves, its all good. But its been a while, and i cant remember if i brought it home from the garage. I'll check later this afternoon.

Re: Cambelt/Cylinder Head

Did you order the head from Fiat? If so there should only be one available now.. The modification occourred in 04 and the old part number superseeds to the new head. Part number 71785951 (recon) £380.69 + vat. Cant see how they'd get a wrong one? Where are you in the country? Anywhere near Essex/London? If so I can do you a good deal.

Re: Cambelt/Cylinder Head

Thanks for the info earlier nick.

I think the price of the complete head works out a bit more expensive from were the car is.

I have to come to decison on Monday/Tuesday as if i can get the right cylinder head from you and it comes complete with the vavles and hopefully the cams i will be better off doing that way.

Would there be anyway of checking to see if it comes with the vavles?

as i can always email you my number

Thanks once again
Lee
