Night vision in a stilo

Quite a while ago I had the thought while driving at night down a country road (well there are quite a few in Kent) how it would be really good to have night vision in my car. I have now brought all the parts for it that are:

· A 15 inch TFT screen.
· A night vision camra
· Combo LCD Moni TV BOX VGA
· FM Modulator (so the TV sound has a output)

I set it up today and the output to the monitor is 1280x1024 SXGA resolution. And the night vision camera works in colour in the daylight also being night vision.

So after getting all the parts I going to attempt to get it working in my car because I am a bit worried about the power it will be taking from the battery, might have to think of a way around it, I got a 7inch sun visor screen spare that will take a lot less power.

I will hopefully be fitting it this week, any questions or comments welcome.

I will have my (better)camera with me when fitting also so I can post a walkthrough guide.

oh yeah my car is a 2.4 stilo abarth 2002

Re: Night vision in a stilo

well the screen is a distraction to the driver(i dont know of the OE application status) which is why you cannot have video/tv playback on a screen in view of the driver whilst in motion.
same reason high end cars only get TV with the handbrake on

It may be illegal but I like it. The fun you could have driving round with your headlights off

Joking of course.

Re: Night vision in a stilo

As night vision intensifies light wont it be a problem when a car with lights on come the other way? Or is it a special system designed for use in cars like the Merc style one?

I thought Night Vision sent out infared beams out which bounce back into the camera which detects it as light?
