Connect Nav+ Fault

I have an 02 Abarth with the connect Nav+ fitted. Bought the car in 03 and have had no problems except the high cost of Fiat servicing.

However since buying the car the sat nav unit will not work when the car is up to temperature, it also will not read mp3 cd's. I just get the message "CD Error". It is fine when the car is cold. When you put your hand on the unit it is quite warm. The software is up to date.

Anyone out there any ideas please.

Hi there - how nice to hear from a long-term owner who has not had problems

Does the Connect Nav+ read audio CDs OK when it is up to temperature?
If so, then I suggest trying a high-quality CD (i.e. an expensive one) with the MP3s written using Windows XP (!) I find that under Vista, iTunes writes a CD that my Connect Nav+ just gives CD ERROR for.

Incidentally, Connect Nav+ has a fan in the back of it - I can hear it running after a couple of minutes with the music on and the ignition off. If you can't hear yours running, perhaps it is worth pulling it out and checking/cleaning the fan? I can imagine that if the fan is a common PC-type fan, and if it has seized, then the unit would be getting hotter than usual?

Just a couple of ideas, sorry I can't promise a fix...
Cheers,
-Alex
