JTD remapped, what next?

Guys!! Got my JTD remapped 4 weeks ago and it is great, but I getting used to the power now (i do 800 miles a week.) car done 26k since new, nothing ever gone wrong, what can I do next to improve it? The remapped and a BMC replacment air filter is the only mod. on it at the moment, I'm thinking about a full exhaust system but no one seem to making one for JTD.
Btw, just another thing I wanted find out for long time, does the ECU really learn from the way we drive?
in the first week since the remapped, I drove my car harder than usual and it seem to be getting faster everytime I turn the car off and turn it on again, likes if I drove hard to work in the morning, when I start the car again going back home, the car seem to be faster!! after the first week, I taken it a lot easier, as the mpg drop from 49mpg before remap to 46mpg after remapped. I drove 80 on the motorway and 30-40 around town, did it for about two weeks, the mpg improve to 56mpg, but when I try to drive hard again, the car doesnt seem to be as quick as before, however, when I start the car again to drive home the car felt quicker!!! I dont understand why it happen, can anyone help??

Cool Re: JTD remapped, what next?

Yes the ECU does relearn and a good thrashing does a world of good and of course if you start to drive then like what deckcairs does the ECU will send you a signal by way of a dashboard light beep beep beeep WTF do you think you are playing at you wuss

There is a number of things that can be done. All depends of how much you want to spend,

quote by celtictuning, it should run at 160-165 bhp now, thats not including the BMC panel filter, I dont think it add any at all to be honest.
I want to see around 200bhp, but the first thing I wanted to add is an exhaust system, just wonder how much bhp I will get from it.
The thing is my cousin got a BN audi A3 tdi 170, I keep up with him no problem, but as soon as he get his remap, I dont think I'll stand a chance.

Re: JTD remapped, what next?

Full exhaust system would help, exhaustsUK in sheffield custom make them, I did have a link to a couple of websites that did exhausts for the JTD but my computer has broken and I don't have the links anymore

I don't think a de-cat or sports cat would see much of a gain as the JTD cat isn't that restrictive, yes you may get a slight gain but for the money you'd pay for it, it probably wouldn't be worth it.

a GSR induction MIGHT see a gain from the BMC one, but this has never been proven and I think the induction is still being developed.

with these coupld of mods together with another remap to take them into account you'd probably be looking around 180-190 BHP and around 300-350 lb/ft of torque.

I'n my opinion though once you go over 160bhp/300lb/ft of torque you'd need a sports clutch and a lightened flywheel will help. The gearbox could probably handle that as it's hard as nails.

Of course these are big bucks we're talking about here with everything.

The other alternative is to sacrafice some of the luxuries you have and strip the car out to make it lighter, but there's not many poeple out there who want to do this (me included)

Cool Re: JTD remapped, what next?

I think if you are going to push the bhp up any higher you need to seriously consider a better clutch whats the point if you cant put that power down on to the road .. with regards to an exhaust system I would try and find a place that can do the calculations for a proper one and not one of these drive in and out places ..

Thanks, so it might be cheaper and easier for me to sell my car and buy a 150 jtd+ remap, it should see 200bhp easily.

Re: JTD remapped, what next?

a 150 jtd will see 200bhp easily from a remap alone with standard induction, exhaust etc

Re: JTD remapped, what next?

my old JTD was running at 160bhp and I only had clutch slip twice in around 6000 miles, but if I went anymore then the first thing I'd do is change the clutch.
