General Some really good news for everyone

Just done 1200 miles in 2 year old mazda 6 diesel,nice car,powerful enough,big boot & gave no problems...however a few gripes,..

1) didnt like get thrown into bends
2) fuel consumption was dissapointing
3) most uncomftable seat I have sat on in a long time, back was sore withing 20minutes & was constantly trying different seat positions but never found one:(
4) reversing was difficult as akward to see out back.

Well, after a week and 2 days. Here's a quick report on the Mazda

Torque. Pulls like a train in every gear.
Seats - comfortable
No warning messages AT ALL ;)
Fuel consumtion good
Reverse parking - not great visibility out the back (sensors to be fitted, as Stilo had)
Handling, fine
cruising good.
Boot huge

All in all, the only thing the Stilo beats it on is.... remote control window operation (up and down), and windows cannot be operated without key in ignition.

Seats - comfortable

Your kidding! 'google it' if you think i'm the only one who thinks the seats are uncomftable.Nice car but needs better seats.

(first to second gear was poor aswell,I have discussed this with other mazda 6 owners who agree)

I was honestly considering buying this car but for reasons already stated I declined.

I too thought you'd moved on in this as you're now starting to sound like you need convincing you've done the right thing :p

If you're going to start comparisons then compare with a JTD but I really don't think you want to go there :shakehead

That's it.

I just thought i would give my verdict and that would be it. Yes the seats are comfortable - much, much better than my old Stilo, they were terrible. I need no convincing that I've done the right thing at all.

So thanks for the memories, as they say.

Fail, Fail, I bet the warning system was failed on your car!!! Thats why you dont get any warning!!!

Steve no one is doubting the 6 mazda is a good car (I said that earlier) but you just have to face some facts like the seats are crap...

(quotes from reviewers);

"Uncomfortable front seats, too mainstream"
"Cons: Power, Handling, Front seats"
"After two hours the seats are extremely uncomfortable"
"Cons: Uncomfortable seats"
"Cons: uncomfortable for long trips" etc etc...

Read the reviews! so many complain of bad fuel consumption, lack of power(which I disagree with I thought it was good),poor first to second gearchange, poor turning circle, road noise(again I disagree I thought it was ok),blind spots when reversing.

You have spent a long time here pointing out fiats faults but to think mazda dont have any is ignorance because i'm afraid they do & dealer reviews are awful but I assume you will be doing all your own maintence/servicing anyway. All cars have faults/owner preferences & I really wanted to like the mazda....well I do like it but because of these faults I didn't buy it but thats not saying its a bad car & I dont think (or said) you made a bad choice after all its your choice...but it isn't perfect.

If you find Vectra seats comfy then I can understand why you think Mazda seats are comfortable - against the views of others though I haven't driven a Mazda yet. Just about every rep I know who was given a Vectra complained about the seats. They used to make me want to get out on the M25 and walk away they were that bad.

And I thought I had bad luck!!!! I can't sell mine because the jerking, stuttering and spluttering will put buyers off. Only hope is that it will catch fire, blow up and disappear from this mortal coil forever.

Hi all
I used to own a VW Golf V5 and was a member of that forum, take it from me they ain't that much better or the dealers or the company. The issue is modern cars not the make after all they all use the same parts Bosch etc. The complexity of modern cars is overwhelming to us average Joes brought up on minis and ford cortinas fraid todays average mechanic is in the same boat. Got rid of the Golf mainly cos it did 25mpg round town ouch! but issues around jumping timing chains, coil packs, MAFs, rear bushes, sound familiar? the Multiwagon JTD is doing 47mpg nuff said. Modern cars are great till they go wrong that's why I'm restoring a 1953 Lancia Appia

Wow! This is a really old thread! :D

Interesting reading all the problems the OP had and all the others too. I've owned my Stilo for three years now and it's never caused me any problems whatsoever? granted the clutch bearing squeals when it's cold and I've replaced the drop links more times than I should but at 77,000 miles it still runs lovely and smooth :)

Could it be that some cars are just built poorly on one particular day like Friday night 2 hours before shift change :D
