She's gone!

Well after 2 happy years motoring the Stilo has finally gone

we really needed a 5 door car so afetr a lot of searching we settled on a new Civic. we have gone for the top of the range (not the Type R as it's 3 door only). All I can say is i miss the Fiat! the Civic just isn't nearly as good! performance is very poor and the sound is awful - bloody oil burners!
the level of equipment is also relatively poor - even though I have a top of the range car witgh every extra on offer in the book! yet I have no lumbar support on my manually adjusted seats.....

In fact the only real thing going for it is the absolutely astounding amount of interior space.... and the rear doors of course...

I just wish they would get thier fingers out and make a new bravo Abarth!

Oh - did i mention it cost £24k

Re: She's gone!

The Civis does look good though! I suspect they will introduce an Abarth version of everything they make. Fiat are properly relaunching Abarth as a tuning brand again with properly tuned versions of the Punto and 500 due soon.

Why on earth didn't you get a 5 door Stilo JTD

I suppose the answer might be in the cost as not sure it's even possible to spend £24k on one

Cool Re: She's gone!

Well if you were happy with the stilo then I think at 24K I would have bought a new 5dr model and had change from the deal as well

Re: She's gone!

A month or so on and..... I bloody hate that damn Honda... It's total crap.....

I miss my tempramental Fiat!

I have started to notice odd things which one would assume are standard on a modern high spec car - and certainly were on my Fiat! - like auto door locking, or lumbar supports or a glovebox light!

The sat nav is unreadable unless you have the perfect light conditions. the power isn't progressive. the turbo lag is horrendous. even the fuel economy sucks! I get 35mpg from a diesel!

If anyone else is thinking of buying a Civic - take my advice... don't!

Red face Re: She's gone!

Funnily enough, a Civic is the only option that I've considered replacing my Stilo with, all the other cars out there in this sector a boring and bland.

I don't like the Golf, the Focus drives nice but is too common, hate the Astra, hate the Megane, was waiting for the Bravo but is only available as a five door so that's a no no, don't like Peugout, can't afford a 147 and looks too dated anyway, can't afford an A3, so I'd decided the Civic looked fresh and quirky, would never fail as it's a Honda and that this would be my next chariot, I'd also decided that a diesel would be my next power source too.

Give us a full review of the Civic, I'd be interested.

Cheers.

Re: She's gone!

I realise you werent aiming that at me, but my sister has a Civic 1.8 petrol and it turns in nearly 40mpg and is loaded with extras.....lights come on in the footwells when you open the doors, top stereo etc etc. I can confirm it drives beautifully too. Ive heard a lot of complaints about the Honda diesel engines not doing what they are meant to on the mpg front. The Daily Telegraph motoring supplement used to contain at least one complaint a month......they advised a bit more running in time, but admitted that Honda had yet to truly make it in the diesel market and people should still look to their petrol engines due to the good mpg figures and world leading technology. The Honda diesel does sound quite like a petrol once up and running though......maybe the engineers sacrificed the tractor sound for mpgs!!!

Perhaps someone could have told them it's much easier to put the petrol unit back in rather than try to emulate it

Now if they could make a petrol unit sound like a diesel with the same mpg as a diesel then that would be impressive

Re: She's gone!

I test drove the petrol engined version - they only do a 1.8 and quite frankly - it's w*nk. absolutely no power.....

I have a fully loaded top of the range car and I don't have lights in my footwells?

A point that you don't really realise till you start to use it day to day is that is very wide...

Also that rear spoiler makes it very difficult to see out of the back. I would HIGHLY recommend the parking sensors!

I have now found out that you can swith on the door auto locking by performing some bizzare play station like maove with buttons and door handles!! BUT once done the doors lock at 13kmh and do not unlock properly in a crash! also the passengers cannot open their doors again until the driver presses unlock!!!!!

I guess that's why they disable it - coz it's bloddy dangerous!

As an aside... 2 weeks after I picked the car up i had a call from the dealer complaining about problems with the Fiat! sadi they had a gearbox failure and couldn't get it out of 2nd! don't know exactly what they wanted me to do - "not my problem mate" - thinking about it afterwards - I bet the silly tw*ts tried to jet wash under the bonnet

I can now conclude that the car i SHOULD have bought is the Mazda 3 MPS....
