Re: She's gone!

Interesting topic, since I'm currently driving around in a 2006 Honda Civic hybrid.

It's a four-door saloon with a rather small boot, so the Stilo easily beats it on practicality.

I miss the rain-sensing wipers of the Stilo - I never thought I'd say that, but they're actually working quite well now (I might make a separate thread about that). Also the air-conditioning system of the Stilo is easier to use, ditto the stereo, and the headlights of the Honda don't turn off with the key - and the stalks are around the 'wrong' way. Even the horn emits a typically-Japanese hard-edged bleat.

The Civic has nice steering and handling, dare I say better than the Stilo, it's really nicely planted on the road. But the power... it feels as though the engine isn't actually connected to the accelerator pedal, you get just a sort of lazy whine and a roar, and the brakes are something else (with the Hybrid, when you press the brake pedal, you don't initially get brakes - instead, you get the motor charging the battery).

The interior is a bit oddball and I think the materials of the Stilo feel like better quality.

The front spoiler gets damaged easily (I've repaired it twice for the owner) and it's tacked-on in a rather nasty way. Actually the whole car feels quite flimsy compared with the Stilo. I wouldn't buy one with my own money, particularly not for the economy benefit: 6.8L/100km (41mpg) compared with 8.8L/100km (32mpg) for my Abarth). Yes, that's a difference, but is it worth the technology and lack of performance?
