Looks good to me but checkout how good the warranty really is. I'd personally avoid anything that's been messed around with too much. You need to target a well cared for sample with good history above anything else.

Any age of Stilo, if abused or incompetently serviced could turn out to be a money pit

Re: Might buy a stilo very soon want peoples opinon!

Theres plenty of stilos about the trouble is not many 3dr diesels especially with a sky window never mind with side skirts and alloys. Also bit gutted because yesterday checked out direct lines policy on modifcations and they will not insure any driver under 25 with modifications whether this means I can buy one with side skirts already on I don't know. May have to swap to adrian flux but this will mean I will lose my NCB from direct line being a named driver.

Check out HIC - Herts insurance consultants, i switched to them when i added my mods, very reasonable and a good basic type policy. they should offer you some sort of no claims, give them a call

I must have got lucky with mine as I was only concentrating on a yellow JTD when I bought it. Seeing that mine has all of those things listed perhaps I need to revisit my selling price?

Im starting to get put off with how much goes wrong with them. Im going to look at that one I posted before tomorrow and its lowered in price slightly and reckon I could get it for 3k. I could pay way more for a focus but at least I know the focus would be reliable. Its stilo stes post thats put me off the most What ya think?

You sure about that

Ask yourself this? Do you find Deckchair5, myself and many others on this Forum constantly moaning because our Stilos never go faulty.

No you don't - and that's because we think that's normal.

Re: Might buy a stilo very soon want peoples opinon!

My Stilo has done 60k now (only about 10 by me) and apart from the airbag light which is down to the OCS (£90 and easy to change) has so far been little trouble. The Focuses (or is that Foci? ) at work do get ragged about a bit, but theyve done similar mileage and some of them have had gearbox changes and some failry major suspension work as well. Quite a few have had engine management lights come on and they also suffer unexplained flat battery syndrome now and again! No car is ever that reliable when its done a few miles, although some are better than others. The Focus is a good car (and they handle and feedback rather well), but they arent super reliable. If you want that buy a Mazda 3 or a Toyota Corolla .

Re: Might buy a stilo very soon want peoples opinon!

Just to chip my 2p's worth in.

I've had my Stilo since November 05, its an 03 plate. It's done just over 48,000 miles, and in that time I've spent money on:

Oil, air and oil filters (one of each), new brake pads all round (plus front discs and pad upgrades at my choice, didn't need doing), new spark plugs, 3 new tyres (my fault, tore a chunk out of one on a kerb) and a new exhaust system (again, my fault baging itoff speed bumps). How many times has my Stilo broke down? NEVER. Waring lights? NONE. How happy am I with all this? VERY.

Re: Might buy a stilo very soon want peoples opinon!

JTD is the way to go!

I'd look for a Dynamic.

Also the leather steering wheel is a must. I had the plastic one and it's nasty.

If you're keen on driving then a JTD remap will transform the car (NB ignore tuning boxes!).

Stock suspension is too soft. Eibachs (-30mm) are a world better without knackering the ride. I'd be temped by the shocks to go with them too if money allows.

16s are also a must. Stock 15s are far too soft.

Apparently later cars have less niggles. So go as new as possible.

Find a DECENT FIAT garage/specialist. They seem to be thin on the ground so if you can check them out before using.

Yeah, stay well clear of these £3 'add 20bhp' rotary controllers/ecu chips you see on Ebay. All they'll do is make your engine run rich and the long time damage could be devastating.

Re: Might buy a stilo very soon want peoples opinon!

God dammit I been out looking today and I still really want the Stilo they're just so gorgeous and nicer looking than a focus. Not having much luck with 3dr diesels though might have to either have a petrol or a 5dr diesel!
