Hello all

ive been stalking these forums for some time now, only first got around to making a user today.

anyways, my old Citroen Xantia 1,6i needs to be replaced, so ive been looking around for quite some time now to find exactly what i want, and ive kinda fallen for the Fiat Stilo JTD line - good mileage, and diesel + a nice look and feel to it, backed up by the nice extra´s makes it a fine choice for me.
however, im not entirely up to date on Stilo´s, so any help would be nice

im mostly interested in the JTD 1,9 Dynamic, but i have a hard time figuring out what the difference between a Dynamic and a Active is - cept for the extra horsepower in the Dynamic that is - im looking at a few all made in 2003 - is this a okay year? or would you go for another?
also, im looking for a source for "spec sheets" on older Stilo´s, if this is something thats possible to get directed to, i would be most gratefull.

pretty much, im just looking to get my questions answered, but if anybody has any advice on Stilo´s, i would be more than happy to hear what you have to say, as im sure alot of you know your wait around em!

- Alex

The main difference between the active and dynamic is

Active - Steel Wheels, no aircon (optional extra), black door handles, tape/radio.

Dynamic - Alloys, Aircon, colour coded door handles, cd player/radio.

There are a few more differences, use the search buton at the top as there are loads od threads about this. look in classifieds as well as my JTD is for sale at the moment.

I now have an Abarth

Hi, welcome to the forum. I am a JTD owner, in fact the best one around. My first suggestion would be to taget an 04 model where some of the initial problems have been ironed out. Then I would spend some coin on getting it.

1. lowered/resprung
2. remapped.
3. Decent speakers

In this order otherwise you may not feel the benefit to the full extent. Try and find one with the sunroof if you can but most importantly if you do not get a yellow one then I would steer well clear of Stilo's completely. Any other colour is :tosser:

Hi Guys thnx for the fast replies :)

Dan: thnx for the info, i tired doing a few searches on "JTD" but i got 40 pages, quite hard to chew through :( but ill give it another shot
thnx for the heads up on your car, sadly i live in Denmark, so i doubt its possible heh :)

Bozzy: yeah getting it lowered was one of my initial projects, got a few surgestions on 40/40 and 40/30 (not too much into it though, as im used to hydraulic suspension) not entirely sure on "remapping" is that tuning of sorts? if so, i just gotta keep below (or around) the 20% legal tunning directive over here - but yeah, i would like the squeese the lemon if possible.
speakers, yeah good point, a decent sub and a amp is on my wish list for sure

and hell yeah, i want one with the sunroof, its soo awesome, thing is, that ive only seen 1 model for sale with it, a petrol, and i really need a diesel, guess i have to wait and see for one to pop up over here with a decent price tag on it.

also, if its not too much a bother, anybody got any info on a 2005 JTD Sport? - gonna aim for a Dynamic, but if the Sport is cut out for it, it might be an option too :)

The springs I like are the Eibach -30mm, quite a subtle drop but vast improvement on handling. Remap is an ECU update affecting sertain perameter around fuel injection/timing so I believe but adds around 30-40 BHP so well within your limits then. Good luck on your search.

see those links really helped out, thank you very much for those - yeah the MJTD has crossed my mind, only seen a few ones, that wasnt in good shape, but if the chance arises ill take it (if it has a sun roof that is ;) )

and thanks for clearing it up on Remapping - ill keep that in mind, sounds like a pricy affair though, least ied imagine its horrid over here, migth be an idea to head off to germany to fix that sorta things

My Phase I Dynamic came on 15' Steelies & had a Radio/Cassette only but has reverse parking sensors and HID headlamps & washers as standard  Then again depending on where you are Alexander the 140bhp JTD has been standard for a while in Germany...

Bozzy... you are very modest - top banana :D Lets not get onto 3dr v's 5drs...

hehe, i live in Denmark, so i can say for sure that the 140bhp version is very uncommon, i have found 1 - an 06, in nice shape, bu the seller wants around 20k£ for it.

but im keeping my eyes open, ive added another car to the search, a Seat Ibiza, so i got something to choose from, but i kinda like the Stilo, even though it seems i will most likely never get a Stilo with the Skyroof or a MJTD - unless im really really lucky.

i have found 1 car, that looks pretty dandy, the sport model i talked about before, ill be making a "stilo recognition" post here in a few minutes, to see if anybody is able to tell me what the h... it is :)

well, yeah i would really love to, but conditions here in Denmark is pretty harsh when it comes to Imports.

lets say i paid the 11500 euro´s for it, would be a bargain here in denmark.
i would have to pay an aditional 23573 euro´s to drive it here.

so sadly that wont be possible for me

love my 03 diesel stilo, its a late 03, and ive had no trouble with it, the 80bhp one is a little under powered, guna get my 115 remapped at some point, as mines an ex demo its got the 17" claw alloys aswel.
