Yes - I have done so.

However the buttons will do nothing without the appropriate connectors.

I think that if you replace the collar shaped connector with the correct item it will allow the unit to work. However, I am by no means sure of this.

My experimentation has stopped whilst DIY/moving takes place...

Hope this helps

Have a search about airbags as I wrote a little how to the other month. You'll also see peoples thoughts about how safe (or unsafe) it is to do.

I did mine because I hate to OEM plastic wheel and the leather one is just much nicer to hold/use.

I think I paid £25 for mine off fleabay. If you can get the collar too it might make the buttons work.

Does anyone know - are the radios different for the cars with wheel controls?

I wouldn't go to FIAT - the wheel is about £300, the clockspring (which needs to be replaced) could be up to £200 depending on the car, and they'll want an hour to fit it, maybe more. £600 for buttons? Not worth it IMO.

However, if you get yourself a steering wheel, relatively easy job.

MOD EDIT: Moved to Technical Section.

This is the connector you need (Item number: 25009968562), the clock spring thing. I don't think this one has the audio control connectors but you can't really see from the picture.

New wheels are v expensive. I'd keep an eye on fleabay for some breaking a dynamic.

dont quote me on this, but i think the badge is part of the airbag mechanism?

anyway the 147 wheel would look a bit out of place as its a lot curvier.
i have seen a few stilo leather ones floating around on fleabay
