(T) DIY Abarth Aircon recharge

Has anyone used one of those cans of refrigerent to top up their a/c?, I'm thinking of having a go as it seems such a cheap option rather than taking the car to a garage. Apparently you just connect the hose to the low pressure valve read the gauge on the can and top up. Just like to get a few opinions before i do it.

if the gas has gone down it usally means a leak

does'nt one of those cans cost like £28, surely the extra £2 to get the aircon re-filled properly and regulated is worth it. at least you will know its been done correctly.

Thanks for your comments, I have since found a local mobile air con specialist who will recharge and check the system for £65 so im gonna do this.
