error u1702 - power steering problem

HI all
I have power steering failure with error code U1702 - I have had a good look around some of the other threads and it appears it could be a bad connection between the ECU and the EPAS.
Some suggestions have mentioned the D4 connector. I've see a few threads refering to this.
I have managed to locate the connector but what am I looking for once I found it?
