Battery indicator

Does anyone know if the 1.2 was fitted with the battery health indicator on the battery cover? Mine's missing!

Re: Battery indicator

Sorry don't know. But on mine, the battery cover has to be removed before the indicator can be observed.
Crazy IMO. Italian logic ? --- oh the irony just there.

Re: Battery indicator

Something wrong with yours and Stilo_ste's setup.

When the cover is properly aligned with the OEM battery then you should be able to see the indicator

But you do need to take care when re-fitting cover to make sure window lines up with indicator.

Re: Battery indicator

i noticed myself the odd positioning of the circular battery health thingy, and considered rotating the battery 180 so that the circle could be viewed through the clear strip. Then i realized i could'nt clip the red clip into the battery in that position, so yeah, definatly odd, design flaw?

And don't you have to take the battery out to view the circular health indicator anyway? so you can 'see threw' it clearly, rather than the bottom being blacked out by the battery compartment.

Re: Battery indicator

Two things -
Firstly, my Stilo has the OEM battery (has FIAT on it, Magneti-Marelli) and it has the green indicator, lines up with the window, yet the battery is NOT sealed or maintenance-free, I found all the levels really low but it was easy to pry the single-piece cap out and top-up. After charging, the indicator turned green.

Secondly, the indicator hasn't stayed green. I removed it and charged it again, went green, but a few days later it's back to black. That was six months ago. My Stilo's had infrequent use since then, and it's still working fine - haven't had any ABS/ASR/ESP messages since the second re-charge.

Meanwhile I bought a new sealed, maintenance-free DIN 55 battery (just in case) and put it in my Uno Turbo as a special treat. It has a green 'eye' in the middle. I suspect this is the standard location - won't line up with the window in the Stilo's cover. This battery has stayed fully-charged despite the infrequent use of my Uno as well, it's amazing just how much faster the starter spins over.

Re: Battery indicator

The green indicator is not a reliable way of checking the battery, this inbuilt hydrometer only operates on one cell.....what about the other 5!!

Mine is now aligned, to be honest it didn't look quite right before anyway. Pesky covers.

Re: Battery indicator

This "window" is designed for OEM batteries only, so if you get a replacement, chances are it won't line up. Only the halfords leisure batteries had this when I worked there, not really an aftermarket battery thing I suppose.

And Stilo_ste, I see italian logic has prevailed after all!
