Question Stilo JTD Fuel tank

Hi all,

I have a problem with filling my car with diesel - with this i mean i never got it to full when filling up. when the guys fill up my car, the diesel is up to the rim on the fuel nozzle by the cap, but as soon as i drive away and check the needle it is just above 3/4 full, and also, the amount of litres they filled up with shows me that there is space for more...

i spoke to 2 Fiat dealerships and the one guy said the car was designed like that

and the other guy said that there might be a airlock and its also possible that the air valve on top of the tank might be clogged... ?

today when i filled up, i drove about 10 minutes, stopped and then opened the fuel cap... when i opened it there was this huge suck of air and i could hear liquid moving down. almost sounded like when you throw water down a pipe...

is there anyone that has this before perhaps, or is the best to take it to a dealership so they can sort it out?

thanks!

Sounds to me that you are getting an airlock indeed

The Link is fine - well works for me - it is an exploded picture of your tank, using FIAT ePer.

Legs eleven Number 3 its the pipe that runs along side the main filler pipe it look as if its some kind of recirculation system and if its blocked or obstructed then it simply wont recirculate air and cause an air lock
