Stilo suspension spring manufacturer

If, like me, you're looking for a different (ie other than Fiat) suspension spring but don't what to change the ride or ride height too much then you may find this info useful

Lesjofors look the biz and make suspension springs for the complete range of Stilos from the 1.2 to the 2.4 including the multi wagon (on a different page)

Looks impressive as they actually manufacture them and make in Sweden and Germany

Available in 30mm drop too

They have a distribution factory in the UK in Yorkshire but NB you cannot order from them directly. Local retailers can obtain and supply them for you

Cost for my 1.6 fronts is £69 incl VAT the pair
delivery £9 24 hrs or £7 48hrs

I've ordered mine so we'll see if the supply time is good and I've been quoted £60 for fitting by a local garage.

You can obtain them here www.provenproducts.co.uk
Thanks to Phil for the link

Looks good to me and the answer to everyone's prayers who don't want to lower but are worried about the spring fracture risk. Have to see how the delivery and fitting goes but i'm feeling happy

Re: Stilo suspension spring manufacturer

some great findings there decks and phill

any ideas on hows these rate against other springs like koni and eibach?
looking at their site i have also noticed that they do shocks, and presumeably a complete all round shock/spring kit would be very reasonably priced, so it all looks very good indeed

we just need some more info on them, and any impressions from anyone who has used any Lesjofors products before

i've started worrying ever since i had the mechano kit fitted

Re: Stilo suspension spring manufacturer

The springs are shot peened (firing ball bearings at it) to toughen, compress and get rid of internal flaws and the springs are zinc spray coated to resist corrosion before final spraying. That should knock on the head the problems that the Fiat springs have

They are suppliers to Audi and Volvo.
That'll do me

Re: Stilo suspension spring manufacturer

I just rang proven products reference new Boge turbo shocks (£106 delivered for the front pair ) and Tim from PP said 'what's up with that car, you're the 3rd person within a few days to ring about suspension products for it'. I then explained that I could guess at who the other 2 were

Seem like nice chaps down there too

I used Lesjøfors (pronounced like the vocal in the word "burn" (as in "word" aswell)). Well, anyway, they were mounted on my previous Uno. Very stiff springs - extremely much stiffer than the Uno's original springs. Problem was I got the turbo set, and not the 1.1 set so the Uno looked like an aeroplane, while I waited for the correct set...

Re: Stilo suspension spring manufacturer

For the interest of those, like me, considering replacing the FIAT front springs with Lesjofors, but without lowering, I contacted the manufacturer and was told the following:

All our springs are based on OE equipment. We review the OE equipment and in some cases re-design it if needed (if a weak point or other design flaw is found).

4026165 has a free length of 448mm, 4226124 is 347mm long.

Hope that's useful. I don't know the free length of the FIAT original springs. Does anyone out there know...?

Based yes and if they reviewed the fiat shocks they would have certainly found the flaws a couple of bad ones

They're quite long in an uncompressed state. That's about 450mm. I'll measure the car height before, after and then a few weeks after settling down. Hoping for an end to nose diving in corners and a bit more relaxing with much less likelyhood of sudden spring breaking.

Why not post measured length - then we can compare against originals or others

Just did Give me time
It's probably not very relevant, the spring length uncompressed. More will depend on spring rate and what they'll settle down to once fitted for a few weeks. They might squash like an old melon or be as stiff as a board once loaded

As you say Decks, can't read too much into spring length.

Suspect your 1.6 springs might be shorter than mine but for reference:

JTD
original front = 470mm
PI front (-35mm) = 305mm

Decks - any news on fitting your Lesjofors springs yet? My front springs are creaking more and more loudly (despite lubrication) so I'm expecting failure soon and am interested in the Lesjofors as I don't want to spoil the ride with Eibachs. But I also don't want any increase in ride height, so I'd be really interested to know if your car sits just as it did before you changed springs. By the way, did you do the fronts only, or rears as well?
