| Intermittent Selespeed Failure I occaisonally get a warning showing Gearbox failure that lasts about 5 seconds and then dissapears again, without any noticeable problems with the gearbox. This has happened about 3 times now in the 4000 miles. Has anyone else had this problem ? Paul Stilo Abarth 3dr, Broom Yellow (Nov '03)

| I don't own an Abarth but could this be linked to this issue about sensor failure see here http://www.fiatforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9571 where the car is actually showing no signs of a fault but is reporting one? Have you had the dealer check it out yet? cmc 1.6 Dynmamic 5 door.

| Have just bought an Abarth Selespeed and in the first 140 miles have had the gearbox fault warning flash up once, but again no noticable problem with the gearbox

| I wonder if it is just an electrical glitch, or whether it will develop into something more serious - I don't want to take it to the dealer cos it isn't actually causing me a problem at the moment. Paul P.S. Are you getting used to the gearbox yet Arnie ? - I think it took me about 4 months to 'master it' fully. Stilo Abarth 3dr, Broom Yellow (Nov '03)

| I am slowly getting used to it but have only done 200 miles. Seems most difficult changing from first to second without a bit of a wobble. Have read alot of stuff about it, mainly from the Alfa sites. Does it actually change gear much quicker when you are pushing it? I havent tried that yet. Abarth Selespeed

| Yes it does change gear much faster when you give it some stick. I have to say 1st to 2nd is a tricky one to get smooth when driving it 'normally' - you have to either change up really quickly, or build the revs right up. One of the 'tricks' I've learnt is to always bang it into neutral before it changes down through all the gears when your stopping - that way you don't get 'dragged' along towards the car in front. Paul P.S. Is yours a new 04 spec car ? Stilo Abarth 3dr, Broom Yellow (Nov '03)

| Dunno - thats why I was asking....I think most of the changes are aesthetic, but yet to talk to someone with an '04 spec Abarth. Be nice to find if the new car has any software fixes worth having! Paul Stilo Abarth 3dr, Broom Yellow (Nov '03)

| Thanks for the advice Paul Mine is 03 spec, pre-reged in Jan 04, I bought it a week ago. I was told by the dealer that the only difference in the 04 model was a fiat badge on the back in the middle of the boot, they even offered to stick one on it for me. I took that with a pinch of salt and declined. Abarth Selespeed
