| 2.4 abarth in front | should i worry Hiya guys whilst driving home from work today when i first got in the car i noticed when changing gear that the revs didn't drop off.I mostly drive in manual mode so i thought id switch to auto same happened noticed the car didn't seam too accelerate right either. But after say 1 mile when i pulled up at lights car changed down itself no problems,it seamed to just right itself and i drove home fine. Please note no warning lights or bleeps came on and selespeed oil is well topped up.Should i worry or not will see what it's like tomorrow.Cheers Lee.

| Back once again w'the... | Re: should i worry Sorry - could you explain a little more by what you mean when you say "when changing gear the revs didn't drop off"? Obviously when changing up a gear, there must be a drop in revs (in the 'new' gear) so I'm confused ![]() I've noticed that in Auto mode, my Selespeed frequently holds on to lower gears longer than necessary, i.e. accelerate hard in 1st, Auto changes into second at fairly high revs, smoothly lift off accelerator so no longer accelerating, and the transmission 'hangs' in 2nd even though the revs are (say) over 4000RPM and it could have changed to 3rd but doesn't. I've decided this is a design feature - a limitation of the Auto programming - but not sure if this is similar to the effect you describe. Do you have a jerky clutch engagement? Or is it holding the revs high during the gearchange and then dropping suddenly with the engagement of the clutch? If so, that sounds more like a throttle body problem to me - the throttle control not being correct during the gearchange. It could possibly sort itself out or require a 'relearn' with diagnostic gear (I think the correct term is Throttle Body Adaptation?) Please note that these are just my opinions based on a little knowledge of how it works - not based on actual Stilo experience so perhaps the technicians here can give more specific advice. Cheers, -Alex

| Re: should i worry Sounds like a slipping clutch to me! Do the revs rise faster than your rate of acceleration.....thats the classic sign. From your post it sounds like they do.

| 2.4 abarth in front | Re: should i worry What i meant was there was no noticable change in the revs when changing gear in any mode you don't get that lurch forward like you do when changing gear in say 1st 2nd or 3rd.But anyway im happy too report that it not done it again since so it might have just been one of them Fiat things a bit like my puddle light on passenger side only works when it feels like it lol.Cheers guya il be sure to let you know if any thing happens like it again.
