Re: rear door on multiwagon

Use the tailgate? lol, Have a look at the main stilo section at the thread titled 'deadlocked', that may help

Re: rear door on multiwagon

"we dont use keys to open the back doors "
If your key fob doesn't open the doors then you try using the key in the door to open ALL the locks so yes you do use the key to open the doors. The same with the tailgate, if the fob doesn't work, you try the key

Remember Stuart's missus calling and saying
"I'm locked out, the key fob won't work"
To which Stuart replied
"Use they key in the door, sweetness and light"

That''s why i think Hawk means rear door but need to find out

Have you checked the settings on the computer for independent rear tailgate? if it is set to this, you will need to unlock the tailgate seperately, however if you set this to off, then the tailgate should unlock with the rest of the car and be openable by pressing the switch on the tailgate,

Re: rear door on multiwagon

yes i have split tailgate & yes it still works nearly, last year in France it failed to shut, eventually got it to shut but couldnt open any of the boot, local Fiat garage fitted a new catch but since then Wash/wipe wont work. Fiat say glass has slipped & needs to go to a Windscreen fitter! but havnt been yet, but it does open its just the wash/wipe that doesnt work

Re: rear door on multiwagon

Is there any chance that waters got inside the tailgate and corroded the connections.
If the glass has slipped has it left a gap? or broken a seal?
Why did the glass slip in the first place?

Re: rear door on multiwagon

My glass slipped on my split tailgate, dealer took 3 attempts to repair it under warranty, eventually they had it rebonded into place.

I had a problem with tailgate not opening, but this was due to the split glass not being latched properly. Had my mother in law foxed but I sorted it out and she was most impressed

Re: rear door on multiwagon

In a word no........ sorry i've never seen a multiwagon boot door up close so don't know the panel layout.
If you manage to get it open at all have a look while it's open, otherwise its gonna be a crawl through the rear seats and see if you can remove any of the plastic cover to gain some access.

I assume when using the key (as a key not a keyfob) you still have to press the boot release button above numberplate?

Re: rear door on multiwagon

Minimad, if it's a split tailgate, there is no key hole on a multiwagon, just the electomechanical release on the handle for the main tailgate or under the lip above the number plate for the split glass opening.
