Fiat stilo battery replacement

It looks like my battery is on it's way out. I need a cost effective replacement - I.e. cheap, but that actually works well.

As the stilo is rather picky about getting enough juice to start up with - unless you like the light show, I'm interested to know what battery rating people have replaced the standard one with, where they got it from, and for how much

I've been searching for this info on the forum but couldn't find it and thought it would be useful to have available.

Thanks

Re: Fiat stilo battery replacement

It should be at least 55a/hr,dont get anything less & make sure its a fiat original or varta battery.Anything less is waste of money & false economy.

Re: Fiat stilo battery replacement

I got a fiat original (well it ended up being an alfa one, long story) from a fiat dealer and it worked out cheaper than a lot of places that I looked (def was cheaper than halfords), worth sticking to fiat originals for stuff like that.

I dont know if its just my car, but I seem to remember that the battery distribution panel on top of the battery had a red clip that located into two holes on the top of the battery, guess these might not be standard on non-manufacturer batteries, but im not sure.

Re: Fiat stilo battery replacement

Yeah Si, same here - our FIAT dealer got an Alfa battery, and the price beat halfords (who wouldn't?) and lots of motor factors!

That little red thing will screw into most batteries; the one from my Stilo is missing anyway

Lol - ?

It was never there, I assumed it was the dealer I bought it from - the fact the old battery had "ROOPE - Saturday" written on it when I collected the car on Friday (hence when I went to get it it wasn't ready!) and the fact that the battery box was snapped didn't give me much confidence in their battery fitting capabilities!
