| Re: asr/esp waring light I doubt it! It might go off on its own like my airbag warning does (its a faulty wire......replacement on the way). Just dont take it to a Fiat dealer.....most moden garages will have the diagnostics these days and wont charge £50+ an hour! I wouldnt worry about driving the car with the light on either....cars didnt even have ESP/ASR until about 5 years ago and survived!

A lot of problems have been caused through taking Stilos to garages who simply don't understand them (to be fair that can be said of some Fiat dealers). The owner comes away with more problems than he had in the first place plus a lighter wallet. There ARE some good dealers and specialist garages out there but the trick is finding them. Suggesting anyone should ignore a "RETURN TO DEALER" message is just plain crazy I guess you might be happy to throw a car around a race track with minimal technology but there are a lot of people out there who wouldn't

| Re: asr/esp waring light I'm suggesting that he takes it to a reputable garage with the technology. Fiat dealers are like most main dealers...money pits for people wanting problems fixed without worry of cost. They dont employ vastly skilled mechanics, they employ service technicians and send complicated problems elsewhere, but they do have up to date computer programs. I have bad experiences of Toyota, Fiat and Alfa main dealers in the last 10 years. They have financial targets to meet and 'return to dealer' warnings are helping them level the playing field against more capable independant garages. No one with a car more than 3 years old visits a main dealer.....unless they havent a clue about local garages. As for race cars.....thankfullly the manufacturers have almost no say in any decision made from club motorsport to F1! While I'm on...the return to dealer warning is a standard message that you get for any fault and has nothing whatsoever to do with the roadworthiness of the vehicle......its a lucrative aftermarket money earner for Fiat when faults appear in their cars.......and ESR etc is not a 'stop driving now' issue by any means....annoying yes....but not worrying. You can turn the damn thing off on every car on the market and most cars on the road dont have it!!! Anyway....rant over!!!

| Re: asr/esp waring light Take it back to whoever repaired it and ask them to look at the problem....tell them it started as soon as yo[u] drove off. Its almost certainl a minor electrical fault. Was it a main dealr by the way?

| Re: asr/esp waring light Ive known main dealers (not Fiat to be fair) send cars to gearbox specialists and send things back unfixed (my own Alpine being an example 4 years ago) because they dont have the resources or cant afford the time.......but I guess by and large these days they tend to order in whole new units (such as engines, gearboxes and ECUs) to repair troublesome cars. Most main dealers are fully occupied with servicing and minor warranty complaints....the Renault garage I took my Alpine to were desperate to attract cash earning repairs and welcomed me.......but they didnt sort it. Thankfully I got out of my lazy phase and fixed it myself!!!!
