Springs jump & boing noise

Last summer my front springs started making a boing type noise and when viewed on turning the wheel jumped a mm when going round.

Perrys stripped this down and found no faulty parts and charged me £120 to lube, noise went and only returned yesterday...3 days after 36k service!

Nothing would be done on the service to make the noise return would it? Presuming coincedence as didn't do it in the 100 miles I drove straight after service.

I am not happy to pay £120 for another lube and 7 months fix. Is this something that can be left? Can I just jack it up and spray white grease up there? As it did go away for 7 months when lubed by Perrys

Cheers

Re: Springs jump & boing noise

lube them yourself.

Like you said jack the car up and grease the spring cups (I use multipurpose grease from motormania) spray grease didn't last long before the noise came back.

Re: Springs jump & boing noise

You could always do it yourself for next to nothing (try a Search on WAXOYL) and get a bit of free exercise

If you're going to spend that sort of money I'd say you're far better off upgrading your springs (assuming they've not already failed)

Just noticed you have a 1.4 - so very little risk of spring failure
