Stupid 19mm bolts!

So was super happy geting home from work earlier when I found my OMP discs and pads waiting for me...the bad news...I can't get the 19mm bolts out to remove the pad carrier any one know the best way to do this? I've tried a shed load of WD40 but that won't budge it either.

long bar, they have thread lock on, bolts should be cleaned up and new thread lock put on when you refit as well

Re: Stupid 19mm bolts!

Right, cheers Dave. Got the rear ones off with a normal socket handle, but I'll use my sliding wheel brace. I tried earlier, but I'll have to take the splash guard off to give me some more room.

Re: Stupid 19mm bolts!

Heat, and lots of it combined with a very long piece of scaffolding type pole to put over the end of your best ratchet fitted with 19mm impact drive socket. You wont find any bolt that can resist it......its the mechanical equivalent of introducing Angelina Jolie to a room of 6th form boys!!

Re: Stupid 19mm bolts!

Stick a blow torch on it......but the big lever is the real solution...the heat should just help stop the end of the bolt rounding off. Go to a local engineering or metal place and buy a metre of 2" steel tube (will cost you about a fiver) and stick it over the end of the ratchet. If your feeling flush you could get a proper lever bar from Ebay. This one is only 24" long but it'd probably do (it would cost you about £50 at Halfords!!!!)

Re: Stupid 19mm bolts!

Big thanks to everyone who gave me advice on this, I just did it and slapped the new discs on. Looks sweet, I'll bed them in and then try them out properly!

Re: Stupid 19mm bolts!

Seeing as I know what I'm doing, yes

It's easy doing front brakes. The rear are a pig, but as long as you have the right kit its not too bad.
