| ^ me | Harmon Kardon Drive and Play - Ignition Wiring My wife bought me a Harmon Kardon Drive and Play unit for my birthday. It's a very clever device. The only problem is I need to connect it to ACC on the ignition. Is this going to be a complete ball ache? Will it interfere with the car's brain i.e. voltage drops and car self-destructs? Maybe I should wire it direct to the battery and put an inline switch in it so I can switch it on/off manually. Any advice would be gratefully recieved. Thanks in advance.

| It's about GO! not SHOW! | Is this the device that once fitted allows you to do away with the driver completely .....so you can sit in the back

| ^ me | Ignition wiring I am fitting a Harman Kardon Drive and Play unit to the Stilo. I have to connect it to the ACC wiring on the ignition. There are 3 wires to connect, 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 black (dunno if the colours make any difference). Will it be safe to splice these wires to the ignition wires? Don't want to rush into anything and knacker the whole job up. Cheers guys.

| Whaddya mean too old? | Re: Ignition wiring Have a look here http://www.harmankardon.com/drive-1/default.aspx Personally i wouldn't want to splice anything direcdtly into ignition wires. Don't fancy the cigar lighter socket?

| Glutton for Punishment | Re: Ignition wiring ACC? Remember a Stilo has no such thing as an accessory line. The ignition wiring of a Stilo is: Black = 0V Red = Permanent +12V Light Blue = INT Line (Ignition Controlled Feed) Dark Blue = INT/A Line (Ignition Controlled Accessory Line - this is momentarily deactivated during the startup process to stop excess power draining when starting the car). Oh and yeah, I'd avoid going directly to the start switch. I only did due to the start button installation. Take the +12V ignition from the cigarette socket as Decks says.

| ^ me | Re: Ignition wiring I think you guys are right. I've been using the unit with the cigarette lighter today, and although it looks a little untidy with the wire coming out of the glovebox to the lighter socket, it really isn't too much of a problem. When I get chance I will tap into the actual wiring for the lighter. Thanks guys. Muchly appreciated.
