Temp reading

I have an 02 Stilo Abarth and was wondering if anyone else gets strange readings from the temp gauge, when im driving it sits on the C but in traffic it goes to a 1/4 the car never seems to put out much heater through the heater could this be a thermostat problem as in its stuck or may not have one,if so where will i find it.
Thanks

Re: Temp reading

my guage gets to half way very quickly and pretty much stays there (Also abarth).

It dont matter if im doing 70mph on the M4 in winter, or stuck in traffic in the summer. I would bet on your thermostat is stuck open therefore cooling just your engine all the time, and explain why the heater matrix inside the car gets no hot water to heat your toes up!

Re: Temp reading

Is there a standard temp thermostat or can you buy a summer or winter one, where on the engine is it located.

Re: Temp reading

As far as im aware there is one thermostat for all seasons, the computer controls the temp accordingly. You dont want to be changing it every couple of months, as its quite a fiddly job.Its on the right side of the engine head, just underneath the air intake pipe. i'll be stripping all mine tommorow due to a leaky pipe there...!
