(T) Resetting the ECU

Is there any benefit to resetting the ECU after you've bought a used car. I read somnewhere that the ECU 'learns' the way you drive and alters to give you best economy etc. Is this true?

Yes the ECU adapts and learns the best settings in quite a short time but then sems to not bother to update its settings to allow for wear and tear.

Resetting the ECU certainly made a big improvement to mine as the learning process had fallen asleep
