Re: need help choosing a turbo

i know one of the coupe guys had a 2.4 turbo, it was putting out around 420 BHP.

And the cost ..... at a guess I'd say at least £2.5k

Re: need help choosing a turbo

ballbearing Garet T25
custom intercooler
custom blow-off valve
5th fuel injetctor (ECU for the extra injection)
parallel ECU for "cheating" values from the original one
BMC air induction
oil intercooler
whole custom made 63mm diam. exhaust (from the manifold until the end)
whole Punto GT gearbox

Result:
227PS / 240Nm torque @ 12psi (now is working @13psi)

You can surrely leave behind cars such us: RX8 Cosmo, Golf V GTI, Civic Type R, SAAB 9-3 Aero, AUDI A4 DTM, etc (these were some of the most interesting and common).

Re: need help choosing a turbo

stripey why not get an GSR induction and a remap on your 1.4? It is a 1.4 you've got? obviously alot cheaper and wont affect your insurance that much.. Depending on your varient and on an n/a engine were seeing gains in between 15-20% on standard figure which is quite alot, also depending on your varient at std form. But those 20" wheels you've got wont do anything for performance fella.

Re: need help choosing a turbo

I think that I will disagree with you 1.8Stilo. Since Stripey has 20" wheels, a 15-20% of power increase (which I find a bit optimistic) would be nothing for his car. And after that, he would have paid about 2.000€ (sorry about the Euros) to gain 12-15 PS when he can turboed his engine with about 5.000€ and gain 70-80 PS for a joke (and he can increase his power output by spending few more in the future). So, comparing PS/MONEY, he will spend about the double but he will get about 6 times more power!

Of course when you talk about insurances and stuff like that, I can say no more. In Greece there are no changes in the insurance for those reasons (I pay 250€/year for a standard insurance despite my car is turboed @ 227PS)
