Cool Re: How to replace a clutch??

Question have you got a VERY comprehensive tool kit ? if not don't even go there Jacko you will also need to get the car quite high up to remove the box and car will have to be supported well lots of things to remove and disconnect even before you unbolt the box and drop it EG drain oil take off wheels and disconnect drive shafts from diff [which can be done in so many ways according to the type of system used ..disconnect clutch slave cylinder of the top of box and probably the odd sensor to remove to ..so its very involved you will also need a clutch plate alignment tool so you will have to acquire one of those from some where Ive done many a clutch on most of my cars but I'm getting a bit past it now and cant be arsed TBO have a shop around and get some quotes and save your self one heap of trouble

Re: How to replace a clutch??

What would we do with out you PNL legend! incase u were wonderin the sports clutch is from the alfa 156 JTD jus a straight swap but cos of markets aparently its pointless selling it as a fiat stilo one aswell! so celtic tuning tell me!! they also say with the correct parts etc my diesel can pump out a wooping 230bhp after spending a little but hey! not bad for a diesel! beats the ford focus st of 227bhp n golf fsi gti of 197bhp!!

Re: How to replace a clutch??

Hmmm... 230bhp eh? Your right jacko, I was indeed wondering what clutch when I looked at this thread a few days ago as most folk I have spoken to seem to think anything in excess of 150bhp limits the life expectancy of the standard clutch. Did mine no favours tonight driving back from Ikea using 1st,3rd & 5th gear cause of the new dining room furniture the missus just had to have

I think what PNL is trying to say, is unless you're a complete genius with a toolbox the size of daniel lamberts backside, don't even think about doing it yourself
